A device for scrubbing mushrooms...hmmm. I admit that when I saw this at the local cooking stuff store that I not only smirked, but actually have a little laugh. I thought "good grief, a gadget for everything...now even cleaning your mushrooms...what next, a device to scrub potatoes with..no, wait, I have one of those." Well, as this thing did not cost all that much and due to the fact that I eat a lot of mushrooms and use them in my cooking, I went ahead and bought it on a lark.

Now I absolutely hate canned mushrooms and only use fresh, fresh, fresh. I of course buy them at the local store but I also hunt them in the wild and actually have nerve enough to eat what I find. (Note: I had some very good training growing up, own quite a number of books on the subject, attend seminars and am very, very careful. I did not just fall off the turnip wagon when it comes to gathering these lovelies. I digress...sorry.....

Anyway, I brought it home, threw it in a drawer and forgot about if for over a week. Long story short, it was not long until I bought several pounds of small buttons to serve as appetizers (I fear I cannot share with you my ultra secret stuffing for these as I would have to dispose of you if I revealed that information. Anyway, I actually used this little brush to clean the little things with and it worked like a chart. The brush is soft enough that it does not damage the mushroom; it is easy to clean with hot water and made a tiresome chore so much easier.

This whole thing has certainly been a lesson for me and I will think twice before snickering at something I know nothing about in the future.

I hardly recommend this little brush. Hey, it is inexpensive and if you find you do not like it...no big deal. You can always rewrap it and pawn it off as a gag gift at the office party next year.

Compared to other mushroom brushes I have used, it is larger in size and the bristles are firmer. The look of the Stainless Steel is very nice and will make nice gifts as we are Mushroom Farmers. For use as an overall vegetable brush it is useful due to the firmness of the brush but I would have perferred a slightly softer brush for cleaning mushrooms. I had pictured the brush to be the size of a ping pong ball but it is a little larger than that. This is a nice gift for those who like kitchen gadgets.

Thank you, I had searched for these in several local kitchen stores to no avail. They will make great stocking stuffers for Christmas. Speedy shipping as well.

Barely used this item. I could not get the wrapping off for starters. When I used it on mushrooms, it scrapped off a lot of good mushroom. Oh, well.
