5.0 out of 5 stars Make your own lunch*bles!
These stainless steel veggie cutters are perfect for cute-ifying your child's lunch. I create snacks that are like mini-lunch*bles from the store, but healthier - instead of all the preservatives and sodium-laden stuff in those packages, I cut up nitrate-free lunch meat, soy cheese (the little one is lactose intolerant), and either cucumbers or carrots and whole grain...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept but...
These are very pretty shapes, but the quality of this product is sub-par. Not the sharpest cutters, nor the sturdiest.

I love using these to liven up my sons meals. The goal was to cut veggies into fun shapes so he'd be more likely to eat them at school (when I'm not there to make him eat the healthy stuff!) and it's worked pretty well so far. I mostly use them for carrots and cucumbers, and sometimes for fruits that will hold shape. They are pretty small though, sometimes it feels like I'm wasting food...so that's not too good. But definitely fun to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but slightly bigger than expected, July 24, 2011

These are nice vegetable cutters and I would recommend them, but be aware that they may be too big to use on some vegetables, such as an average size carrot. I have been trying to find some carrots that are a bit bigger to use with these, since the shapes cut from average carrots tend to be clipped at the corners.

They're still cute, though, and I can use them on plenty of other things, such as pickled beets or mango slices. I'd recommend hand washing and drying right away. I haven't had problems with rust yet, but in my experience, most cookie cutter-like tools don't do well if exposed to water for very long.

September 2011 update:

I previously mentioned these may be too big to use on some vegetables but figured out if you slice a vegetable, such as a carrot, at an angle, you'll have a bigger surface. Duh.

I got these little cutters for bento. They make great little shapes that are pretty clean. I have a bottle brush to clean them with and they work great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, December 24, 2010
This review is from: Stainless Steel Vegetable Cutters #K8444 "100% Made in Japan!!" (Kitchen)
Why are these so expensive here?.. O_O I bought the same ones for one dollar (not on sale). Yes, the exact same ones stainless steel and from the same Japanese company. In Japan we can buy these same ones at dollar stores for 100 yen. Some Japanese stores in the US only sell these for a dollar. This price is a shock to me.

The cutters themselves are great, I use them for my son's bento.

These are nicely made cutters that come in a cute compact box.
They don't take up much space and work well.

These are small- do not think that they will be very large but in Japan and in the world of bento small=cute and you want them to be small so they can fit into the designs of a bento and any other ideas you many have for it. They stand about 2 inches tall. As some have said on here they are not the sharpest tools on here. Had they had more of a blade like- end they would cut VERY well but at the same time it's good that the ends are a bit duller because your children can help use these tools as well. Regardless, they are a decent price for these cute little things that can help you from anything like creating a cute lunch for your sweetie to making a lunch that even the pickiest child will enjoy eating : )

I really enjoy these cutters. I use them weekly to cut out cute shapes of cheese and vegtables to entice my picky eater to eat. I was suprized when I got them and realized how small the cutters really are - but I have had lots of fun using them. I even used the star shap cutter over the 4th of july weekend to make stars on my apple pie. If they come in different shapes, I would purchase more. They are easier to use and handle than mini cookie cutters.

Received these cutters just in time to test out on a bunch of fruit I was cutting up for the following day. Although I knew the sizes of these cutters, I was still surprised when I held them in my hand! On using them, I was afraid they'd bend out of shape pretty quickly, but so far so good. Of the fruits I tested out today, strawberries, watermelon and kiwi managed to cut just fine with only the pineapple not working out so much. The blades are dull, but I don't think sharpness is a priority for these type of cutters. Have yet to test it out on veggies and baked goods!
