What can I say? If you are buying this threaded rod, you probably have a specific use for it. The item is as described and that is a good thing.

I used this for installation of an over-the-oven microwave/vent unit. There was not a true cabinet above the original vent fan hood, just a cheesy frame and piece of solid panel nailed up. The framing behind the panel meant it wasn't easy-peasy to use the two included M6-1mm screws, which are about 3 inches long, for the front. For a normal cabinet above, those two screws would work fine, going through the cabinet floor panel. In my case they were not nearly long enough. I found a couple 4 inch rod lengths at ACE Hardware, coupled with a cap/acorn nut to fashion a screw, but those also were not long enough. After finding this rod at Amazon, I cut two 6 inch lengths and again with cap/acorn nuts turned them into screws, and that was long enough to do what I needed. My microwave is now up and running, and the panel back in place. I believe that a 28 fine-thread 1/4inch rod may work as an equivalent to this M6-1mm rod as well, the threading seemed close enough on a test nut at the local hardware store, but I used this true M6 one.

I needed some M3 threaded rod for a custom projector ceiling mount I built for my new projector. I bought an Optoma HD20 projector, and it has M3 mounting holes. This rod fits them perfectly. The rod comes packed in it's own clear plastic tube, and then that is shipped within a cardboard poster tube. The rod was nice and straight when I received it, and is very solid and of great quality.
