Each time you mount the StepMill, the unit's electronically controlled, chain-driven alternator precisely controls the pedal descent, allowing a wide range of users to exercise smoothly within their comfort zones. The resulting step range of 24 to 162 steps per minute will strengthen your legs, boost your cardio, and challenge even the fittest of users.

The StepMill includes a pair of ergonomic handrails for support.

The backlit LCD display includes a slot for a 15-inch LCD TV.

The StepMill offers plenty of workout options, with such programs as quick start, manual, fat burning, calorie burning, speed intervals, custom intervals, random intensity, heart rate intervals, calorie goal, and heart rate zone trainer. The device also offers a nationally recognized multi-stage fitness test that gauges your individual progress, along with a custom firefighter test (CPAT) that measures your cardiopulmonary endurance and muscular strength. (Firefighting is considered one of the most physically demanding jobs in North America, which is why the CPAT is such a natural fit with the StepMill.) Finally, it's easy to track your progress thanks to the C51 backlit LCD display, which tracks your speed, distance, floors climbed, calories burned, and more. As a bonus, the console is TV ready, meaning you can add a 15-inch LCD TV to the console should you need additional entertainment options while working out.

I do not own one of these but I so would if I could justify the living space it would take up and the cost. I use it at the local gym every night and it has so much calorie burning power. The downside is you can't just mentally turn off during the workout, you have to know your steps and pace or toes get squashed...

These stairmaster machines are super tall also, would require more than an 8' ceiling because you'd hit your head no doubt. LOVE LOVE LOVE this machine!

I can't conceive of spending this much money on a cardio machine for home use, but I use this product at the gym and love it. In addition to manual settings, it has several pre-programmed regimens. For each regimen, you can choose an amount of time and a difficulty level from 1 to 20. The interface is user-friendly and flexible, and has all the displays one would expect - calories, distance (in miles and floors), steps per minute, etc.

If you're considering purchasing this machine for your individual use or for your family, my recommendation would be to join a gym that has it, as it is really too expensive to justify a purchase for an individual. I go to 24-Hour and all their locations have these.
