5.0 out of 5 stars A Definitive Study of Soviet Aces and a Big Book, February 19, 2011

This review is from: Stalin's Eagles: An Illustrated Study of the Soviet Aces of World War II and Korea (Schiffer Military History) (Hardcover)
This definitive study of the Soviet aces of World War II and Korea is a bargain. It's also refreshing to see all those many faces, both male and female, who sacrificed so much to help defeat the Nazi war machine. In this book you'll see photos of some of the top Allied aces, like Ivan Kozhedub, the highest scoring "Allied" ace of World War II. It's a reminder against the plethora of American, British, and German books that detail every minutiae of the war, that the Soviets sacrificed the most in WWII, and with the highest casualty rate. This book is filled with an assortment of well produced photos and general information snippets of countless aces, also Il-2 aces, as well. The Korean aces are interspersed throughout the book, too. Any person interested in this subject must not miss this exceptionally well done book, you won't be disappointed.

Lastly, as a caution this book is big! So if you don't want a coffee-sized book floating around like an over-sized beached whale in your study or living room then pass on this, but if not, this book is relatively inexpensive(I got my used in very good condition for less than 10 dollars) and beautifully well made. Thanks.

This is a very interesting book that shows how the soviet air force fought heroically while being severely oppressed by their own government.
