Review

Praise for The Keatyn Chronicles:

"With laugh out loud moments and swoon-worthy guys, The Keatyn Chronicles is a fun, sexy, and addictive series that you won't be able to put down and will never want to end." -USA Today Bestselling Author, J. Sterling.

"I'm convinced no one can write hot boys like Jillian Dodd."
-Late Bloomer Online

"Get ready to go back to the days of drama, crushes, wild parties, crazy hookups, and popularity contests."
-Reading, Eating & Dreaming

"Holy hot boys, Batman! This book is what I like to think of as the mecca of gorgeous men. Keatyn's journey from Hollywood debutante to boarding school is fraught with lots of trials but the biggest of those is the boys."
-I Love YA Fiction

"This story should come with a warning...."You will require an ice box or a fan whilst reading."
-Totally Booked

It's a story that's fun and fresh, sexy and steamy. It's dangerously addictive. -Mollie Harper, Tough Critic Book Reviews.

'Stalk Me' is the first book in a new young adult contemporary series that focuses on popular high-schooler Keatyn, whose mom just happens to be a famous actress. Keatyn is living the high school dream she always fantasized about - being popular, dating a former child star, and partying it up with her friends. Something changes though, because Keatyn doesn't feel like her life is all that wonderful anymore. She's dating someone she doesn't like, is crushing on a guy who sees her as just a friend, and she fears that she's turning into a real mean girl. On top of it all, her mom now has a crazed stalker.

This is a fun and really entertaining first book in the series. It easily details the life and mind of a high school teenager, along with the added glitz and glamour of being rich and living in Malibu. Keatyn's problems are easy to relate to for the most part - dealing with high school problems and guy troubles. The characters overall seemed a bit cliched, but were well written in the snotty rich girl roles they played. The romance aspect of the book felt very realistic and it was easy to empathize with Keatyn along the way. Overall, I found this to be a great first book in a fun new YA contemporary series.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Jillian Dodd still has my socks!

She knocked them off with That Boy & That Wedding and has decided not to give them back! I was a little worried before jumping in. I mean what if she comes down with a big case of suck!? It could happen!!! It. Did. Not. Happen. Now Jillian Dodd has my socks and my knickers!

This book blew a fresh breath of different in all the right places. It was totally not what I expected! Speaking of...if you're expecting Stalk Me to be exactly like That Boy & That Wedding then you will be disappointed. If you're expecting a unique YA-mature read with sharp edge and an addictive story line, then slap your own arse because this is the book for you! If it wasn't for the high school setting, I would have sworn this was new adult.

Okay Keayton...I wanted to like her, I did, but I got distracted with wanting to punch her in the face. She stirred up a lot of emotions for me and whether the emotions were good or bad that is ALWAYS a positive thing. She's a 17 year old girl; she's gonna drive you crazy! She's having to learn lessons the hard way and it's extremely frustrating watching her do this!

Finally...

TEAM CUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Cush from the beginning, the VERY beginning. He gave me Cush-lash! Stalk Me? NO! Stalk you Cush! Cush! Cush! CUSH!!!! Cush-me? YES PLEASE!

There's a scene between him a Keatyn that literally punched me right in the gut; I couldn't breath; I felt sick!! My emotions had emotions! I didn't understand why I was so invested, but I was...and I loved every second of it!!

I still can't decide if I liked the ending or not.

*** LOTS OF SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW!! ***

I liked Jillian Dodd's book "That Boy" quite a bit. While I wasn't super pleased with the ending, I thought overall the writing was decent and the characters were likable.

I read the blurb for this book and thought that it sounded awesome. The book was supposed to be about popular girl Keatyn who has been living a sham life because she thought it was what she wanted (perfect friends, perfect boyfriend, etc), but it's all imploding around her and she starts to realize that the perfect life she thought she wanted might not be the best thing after all.

Yeah, that blurb is almost a complete fabrication. Well, I mean, it's kind of true for the first 15-20% of the book, but then the story changes drastically and none of that matters anymore.

Considering that I enjoyed That Boy, I figured I would like this one as well.

And I did!

For about 70-75% of the book.

Then the book died for me. It completely tanked. I struggled so hard to read the last quarter of this book because I was so upset at what happened and where Dodd was taking this story. I've since learned that she plans to make this a 6-book series and that disappoints me even more. For reasons I'll get in to later in this review, I'm possibly going to check out the sequels... but definitely not at $9.99 each for the ebooks. I was VERY happy I only paid $2.99 for this one.

There are some spoilers after this point, so BEWARE!

Stalk me starts off with Keatyn and her boyfriend Sander partying it up with her best friends Vanessa and RiAnne. And Cush, but I'll get in to him later. Sander keeps getting drunk at the parties all the time and won't have sex with her even though they've been dating a year.

BEST. AUTHOR. EVER!!!

You know you're hooked on a series when you mark your cell phone calendar with the release date (including alarms) of the next installment.

I normally don't write reviews (this is my first review on Amazon) but I loved this book so much, I just had to write one. First, let me start by telling you that Jillian Dodd has become one of my all time favorite authors. I can honestly say no author has EVER made me laugh or cry the way Dodd does. With that said, I was so nervous about reading this new series because my standards for her books are astronomically high, nonetheless, I started reading it & was hooked from page one.

For those of you who fell in love with "That Boy" & "That Wedding", Stalk Me is very different from her pervious two books. It is more serious but Dodd definitely has some of her trademark hilariousness in a few scenes. Fear not though, this book is seriously AMAZING with more twists & turns than any roller coaster I've ever been on. Dodd is quickly becoming the master of throwing out surprises & shocking her readers. This is not a fluffy, predictable book in any way yet, it has all the requirements for an incredible read: drama, humor, romance, tears, suspense, & of course... smokin' hot males (& tons of them). One of my favorite things about this book is you have NO idea who Keatyn (the heroine) is going to end up with. I cannot begin to tell you how different this books is from any YA book you'll ever read.

Treat yourself to a truly fabulous weekend read!!!
