The Third Continues to be a Charm!,

This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
Brian Freeman continues to impress in his third chilling novel featuring Jonathan Stride and his second with his lover, Serena Dial. The plot outline has been well recounted here by others, but what is so compelling about this author is the way he leads the reader along to believe one set of facts and then turns things in on themselves in a way that keeps the pages turning and the lights on late into the night.Freeman's books contain copious amounts of graphic violence and sex, however none of it is gratuitous. This is, as the book jacket describes it about Obsession, Blackmail and Murder....In zero degrees. But the story is red hot.

Brian Freeman Has Never Let Me Down,
By
This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
In this 3rd outing, Jonathan Stride returns from Las Vegas with Serena to take back his job with the Duluth Minnesota Police Department. Jonathan receives an urgent call from Maggie, his former partner, when she awakes to find that her semi-estranged husband is dead in their home. Of course, Maggie is the prime suspect, spouses always are. Stride and Serena set out to find the truth only to find themselves in much deeper then either would have suspected. Serena's past is put to the test when not only does it come back to haunt her, but to literally bite her.You have to pay attention in this book because nothing is quite as it seems. Who is after whom and why gets a bit twisted but in a way that Freeman is famous for and will keep you turning the pages. I highly recommend this author. His foray's into the underbelly always make for a fascinating read.

Brian has done it again!,
By
This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
Since his first book, Immoral, I have hesitated to start the others as I cannot put them down and I am afraid Brian will not live up to his first. I have no worries. He just keeps getting better and better. Even though I get little inklings of who-dunit, I never really know for sure until the reveal. This guy knows how to write a book and the characters of Stride and Dial are more and more interesting. The relationship between Jonathan and his partner Maggie always leaves me wanting more as well. For some reason, the setting in the freezing winters of Minnesota work better than the Vegas one did, but then the writer knew that Jonathan was like a fish out of water and sent him home. Can't wait to see where they will go next...........

Stalked,
This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
This psychological thriller written by Brian Freeman (the third of his Detective Stride series--but not the last, thank Heavens) is AWESOME! It will keep you glued to your seat until you have turned the very last page. Lots of twists and turns and just when you think you have it figured out--wham! he throws something else into the mix. Brian has a very descriptive way of writing that makes you feel you are right there as things are happening. You actually feel the cold of the winter and can hear the wind howling all about you as the snow piles up. You see the buildings and business establishments as clearly as if you were entering them yourselves. You smell the pizza baking, and you can taste it. More importantly, you feel the terror all around you as you are "stalked." For anyone who loves a good mystery, this book has it all. I highly recommend it. Sandie

I pre-ordered Stalked after reading Stripped and Immoral. I couldn't put these books down!! Just when I thought the books were ending...they took another turn!! Very fast paced. I absolutely guarantee you will love these books. I emailed Mr. Freeman and he said he has a new book ready to be published and another in the works!! His publishers say the next book is his best! Can't wait.

Couldn't put it down!,

It was 75 degrees here today in south Alabama, blue sky, sun out.....a beautiful day to be outside gardening or enjoying the spring-like weather. Where was I??? Holed up in the house with a book that I could not put down!! I started it yesterday and just had to keep reading it til I was finished. It was a great read....very suspenseful and thankfully with a great ending too. I have enjoyed all of Brian Freeman's book and each one just keeps getting better and better. If you want a great, suspenseful book that will keep you reading....get "Stalked".

Brian Freeman is a wonderful author and a great story teller. I made the happy decision to read his three novels in order. While they each stand on their own the experience is enhanced by beginning with Immoral followed by Stripped and ending, at least for now, with Stalked. There are several qualities that make Mr. Freeman's work stand out. In the first place the are rich with a number of layers, more than one story line working at any point. Secondly, they are satisfying. The story lines run their course and there is never a feeling that the author gave up and just found a way to conclude. And, finally, Mr. Freeman is not hesitant to include sex as a meaningful part of each story. I, for one, will keep buying his books and urge you to do the same.

Kick back, but don't expect......,
This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
to relax----This third venture into the life and times of Jonathan and Serena does not disappoint! From the very beginning Mr. Freeman grabbed this reader and forgetting all else around me, I just had to keep on reading to the very end (in the process discovering that, although I am a very fast reader, I just barely read quickly enough to keep up with the exciting twists and turns supplied on each page). No spoilers here, just some solid recommendations--if you've read the first two books in this series, wait no longer to read No. 3. For those of you who are looking for a new and exciting author, I would suggest you begin with "Immoral" (excellent book), go on to "Stripped" (another excellent read) and you'll find yourself panting to read "Stalked"!!! I would also suggest doing all things necessary for your everyday lives before sitting down with any of these titles (JMHO). And a thank you to Brian Freeman for providing me with so many wonderful hours of excitement! Susan

Brian Freeman's first two books were wonderful but this tops even those. I am lucky I had a few days off from work because I picked this book up on a Wednesday afternoon and didn't put it down until I finished it Thursday night.Unlike many books that have a typical formula, this one will keep you guessing until the end and then like Harlan Coben, Freeman throws in one last surprise. If you haven't read his other two books, don't miss those either. This author makes Patterson look like an amateur.

BRILLIANT PERFECTION!!!,
By
This review is from: Stalked (Hardcover)
The usual plot information has been beautifully covered by the stellar PW review. Adding anything to that would be nothing short of an act of vandalism, derailing this marvelous literary roller coaster ride. But let me just say a little bit about my thoughts on STALKED by Brian Freeman which is the hot third entry to the incredible Jonathan Stride series and, in my humble estimation, the best of the lot....not that there was anything wrong with his first two gems!!! But STALKED is definitely his most adventurous, most probing of his characters and their psyches as well as his darkest, nastiest and sexiest story. I absolutely loved this book!!! The way Brian Freeman wrote about the weather and scenery made them become lead characters in the book along with Stride, Serena and Maggie. Trust me when I say that you'll need that cooling off while reading this book!!! STALKED starts off instantly and continues with page after page of nonstop thrilling action. Tighten those seat belts because you are in for a really wild and tantalizing ride. Make sure that you block off enough time to read Part 3 in one sitting as it is absolutely lethal with heart-pounding chilling action....shocking, diabolical labyrinthine twists. Don't think you can let your breath out after that part because the last section of the book will completely totally blow you away with an ending worthy of this incredible book! Order STALKED....go out and buy it....whatever....just get your hands on it immediately....I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. Brian Freeman has set the bar so high with his phenomenal writing that I just don't see how he can possibly ever top this one. His brilliant writing shows the maturity of a much more seasoned writer. STALKED is destined hit the charts with full force!!!
