4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, great author!, November 25, 1998

This review is from: Stalker Analog (Paperback)
This is a book about a police officer tracking a serial killer. It has action, suspense, and mystery. One thing Odom is really good at is having heros who aren't perfect. He also has a great imagination when it comes to future tech.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underappreciated in his own time..., June 3, 2002

Mr. Matthew E. Brashears (Tucson, Arizona United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stalker Analog (Paperback)
Years ago I ran across Stalker Analog in a used book store and bought it on a whim. I expected typical cyberpunk, which is to say fascinating technology being run by stereotypical trash-talking drug addicts. Instead, I got a well-written, thoroughly intriguing novel that also happens to have excellent characterization. Science Fiction is a literature of ideas and, therefore, frequently sacrifices believable characters for a neat gimmick. It is to Mel Odom's credit that he has both interesting ideas and interesting characters and brings both off smoothly. This author, who seems to have turned his attention to franchise novels of late, deserves both more recognition, and more encouragement to produce more excellent work like "Stalker Analog."
