4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Nixon Book, Not A Good Ending!...
I thought that "The Stalker" was another good thriller from Joan Lowery Nixon's endless list of great mysteries! If this is going to be your first Nixon story, it'll seem totally great! But, if you've read lots of Nixon books (like me), it can't compare to most others!

The story is about a girl named Jennifer. One day, she comes home and finds out that her best friend...

It's about a stubborn 18-year-old girl named Jennifer Lee Wilcox who does not like to follow orders. One day when Jennifer comes home from school she finds out her best friend Bobbie's mother Stella Trax has been killed. The police think Bobbie killed Stella. Jennifer wants to prove Bobbie is innocent and went to a retired police officer for help on finding the real killer. Her hunt for the killer turns dangerous when she gets a mysterious phone call telling her to stop investigating. This only it made her want to find the killer and prove her friend was innocent even more. I thought the book was really good but not as good as her other books it was slower and not as exiting. If your interested in books by Joan Lowery Nixon I like "Nobody's There" and "A Deadly Game of Magic". I Thought they kept my interest better and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good mystery.

The story is about a girl named Jennifer. One day, she comes home and finds out that her best friend -- Bobbie -- has supposedly killed her own mom! Jennifer knows that that can't be! So, after no one will believe her, she enlists the help of a retired cop, Lucas Maldonaldo, to help her with her detecting! As the couple come closer and closer to finding the murderer, Jennifer's life begins to end up in danger. Someone obviously doesn't want her to find them out! Can Jennifer and Lucas add up the clues and wrap up the case!? Or will the killer stop them dead in their tracks? Find out in "The Stalker!"

Also recommended: "Name of the Game Was Murder," "Who Are You," and "Nobody's There." All A+ Joan Lowery Nixon books! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book, but needs more mystery!!!!, October 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Stalker (Paperback)
The book " THE STALKER" is OK, but it needs more mystery. It gives too much information. Nixon needs to write about more adventure and more excitment. I would recomend this book to someone who likes a good, but not so good thrill!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars page turner, December 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Stalker (Paperback)
The book "the Stalker" was a pretty good book. It didn't take me long to read, maybe a day or two. Joan Lowery Nixon has a style that is all her own, and from reading many of her novels, i can see it in all of them. The story always takes place in Texas, it's always about a girl, there's always a murder etc. but that doesn't mean she's a bad writer, she's probably the best mystery writer i have ever read from. i hav a collection of her books at home, and i could read her books all day long. If i had to tell someone whether or not to buy this book, i would defenitly say buy the book! you'll love the read!

2.0 out of 5 stars This... was supposed to be a mystery?????, January 24, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Stalker (Paperback)
*****Spoiler*****!!!
By the time she went to see the first detective, I knew he was the killer. This book is not what it says it should be on the back. It says that the person who killed Mrs. Trax was Jennifer's stalker, he wasn't! This was a great disappointment, I thought it was such an odd plot line. Also, like other ratings written on this page, say it gives too much information away. The end was short sweet and to the point. in Good mysteries should end on a cliff hanger instead of Jennifer becomes a detective, instead of marrying Mark and every one live happily ever after (except Mark). Maybe Jennifer should have persuaded Mark to go to college with her, or arranged that Mark and Bobbie get together. Maybe Jennifer should just die and not have been pushed out of the bullets way by the private investigator, having the killer still on the loose. Then have the killer murder Mark and Bobbie after getting out of jail even if it is sad. It would make the book better. Anyhow, it was so cheesy when Jennifer got home she was all, "I miss Mark so much I can't stand being without him," 'sob sob', it was worse than Twilight in that area. Why would she miss him that much if in the entire book he was hinting at making her lose her virginity and taking a vacation to a tropical island when she didn't want to. There was only one part of this book that I liked, The Grandmother was such a real character, the whiny old lady. This may have been the worst mystery I have ever read, since when does a criminal go back to the scene of the crime and get some credit cards and move stuff around? He would do that when he did the crime!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful!, June 2, 2009

How would you feel If your best friends mom is dead and your best friend is missing??? Jennifer is faced with this problem in the book The Stalker and everyone, even her family, is against her. She knows her friend would never do anything to harm her mother so she hires a very sly investigator. Also, her crush, the very muscular Mike helps with her investigation. What will it take to prove them all wrong???

The Stalker is a wonderful non-stop mystery thriller with many unexpected twists and turns. Joan Lowery Nixon has a very miraculous way of foreshadowing to keep you on the edge of you seat and wanting to read more. She gives you the impression that this could happen to anyone, even the luckiest person, so it really connects with you. It's a page turner that will leave you with a better perspective on how your life could be.

The Stalker pulls you in right from the start. I would recommend this book for anyone who adores fast paced mysteries with clues on what the killer's thinking. Joan Lowery Nixon writes many mystery novels for eager readers. I really enjoyed this book and hope many other readers will enjoy it to!!

4.0 out of 5 stars My review of the book, August 6, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Stalker (Paperback)
The book is very descriptive and direct in its dialoge. The book is written well and the story follows through the whole book. It's about a 18 year old girl, named Jennifer, whose best friend is accused of the crime of killing her own mother. Jennifer sets out to hire a private investegator to help her discover the true criminal behind the case. The only thing is, she has to prove it to the police in time before her friend is convicted of the crime.
