Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 7^-12. The stories Landau tells of stalkers and their victims are numerous and horrifying. She begins with two stalking cases in which the victims survived and continues with one showing that women are not always so fortunate. Stalkers range from former husbands and boyfriends to almost complete strangers and fans stalking celebrities. The majority of cases involve women harassed by men, though Landau reports on a few in which men were the victims, among them, the David Letterman stalking. The author tries to provide helpful information, but because her chapters on self-defense and the legal system reflect all too well the difficulty of stopping or preventing stalkers, the bulk of the book is anecdotal. A page of Internet resources joins standard appendixes, which comprise a bibliography and a listing of useful organizations. Susan Dove Lempke

2.0 out of 5 stars A Teen's Perspective on Stalking, June 22, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Stalking (Library Binding)
After reading Elaine Landau's book "Stalking," I was very disappointed.
I expected something new on the subject, because it was written so recently,
but found it to be a very simplistically written book
on stalking, with all the same old anecdotes and stories
that have been heard over and over again.

The book is clearly written for middle- or high-school age kids. It is a good basic
introduction to the topic.
