I am still trying to decide if it is worth buying these or not. There are many issues that surround production as well as how long it actually takes to biodegrade. However, until someone comes out and says, "bad for you and the environment" i am going to buy them. They are actually much more durable than the Chinette brand plates.

I love these. They are very sturdy, and they have a nice off-white/ivory color. I used them at my wedding reception where we had a table full of vintage cookie jars where we served our favorite Ben's Cookies. I was afraid these would be bright white, but they're not. They have a great natural white color, and don't attempt to steal the show - like those crappy plastic plates that think they're made of crystal.

Made of sugar cane byproducts of sugar production, these plates are attractive and sturdy. Perfect for receptions where a couple of hundred people balance a plate of cookies and snacks on top their beverage while going through the reception line. They are pure white only, so not "decorative" for certain holidays, but I'm happy to trade in a red dyed, unsustainably produced plate for these.
