| Information on Green Products A growing number of manufacturers are producing green home cleaning products that are healthier and more environmentally responsible. Currently, there is no industry standard definition for natural cleaners. The manufacturers of products in our Green Store have represented that they are not tested on animals, come in recyclable packaging, and contain ingredients that are non-toxic, biodegradable, and free of petrochemicals. You will find the ingredients for these cleaning products clearly listed on our web site or the product package. Paper or plastic items in our Green Store are ones that the manufacturer states are either 100% biodegradable or made from 100% recyclable material. Batteries featured in our Green Store are ones that that manufacturer has indicated are rechargeable. |

Good idea, but poor design,
By RK (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stalkmarket 8-Ounce Cups, 500-Count Case (Health and Beauty)
I like these cups, as I feel like I am not contaminating the earth with harmful chemicals and contributing to landfills. The fact that they are biodegradable and made of sugar cane fiber is awesome-- I'm proud of the company for coming up with this idea to help us eliminate the waste we produce. I only hope that products like this will be used by more and more people.
There is nothing wrong with each individual cup-- it looks rustic but cute. It works for both hot and cold liquids; however, if you have boiling hot liquid you will need to be careful since the cup isn't insulated and you will feel the heat in your hands quickly. The ONLY downside of these cups (and the reason for 3 stars rather than 5) is that they terribly stick together. It is a huge problem. The cups (obviously) arrive stacked together, and so when you try to pull out each individual cup from the other-- it doesn't come out! The only way I have found to pry a cup apart from the others is to bend inward the edges and pinch it together and pull (which tears the lip of the cup). That's the only way to get them apart. So at the end, you have a partially torn cup. It's a huge design flaw, which they would have to change in order for me to recommend this product. It doesn't matter too much for me personally, since I live alone at present and don't really care about the appearance-- but I'm sure I wouldn't feel good giving a torn bent up (used-looking) cup to someone else who comes to visit. Would I buy this product again? Yes, because I care about earth-friendly products. However, if there was another company that sold a similar biodegradable cup that didn't have this sticking problem, I'd switch over in a heartbeat. So the company needs to fix this problem to be successful with this product. I know I'm crazy to write such a long review on a cup, but I think it will help others to know what they are buying to see if it is worth for them. I only have a problem with this company's cups. Their other products-- sugar cane bowls and plates-- are great.

Overall pleased, but sticking together is a problem,

I find these cups to be the right size for a quick drink and go. The quality is excellent, the price point is very good for an eco-friendly cup. You can recycle them with paper or compost them.
No problems with leaking, I even tested on my desk for 4 hours because in your hand it *feels* like it might leak. After 4 hours the water sort of had a papery taste as well. But as I said, these are drink immediately and dispose sort of cups. BIG PROBLEM - as posted by the other reviewer - they stick together making it very difficult to dispense one cup. There is NO WAY you would want to use these in a place where people are getting their own cup and they would never work in any sort of dispenser thing. I've found that the best way to dispense is to FIRMLY grasp the entire stack of cups, taking care to include in your grasp ALL but the cup you are dispensing and then, from the bottom of the stack, lightly twist and pull at the cup you want. The trick is to not wrench the cup but to delicately cup it and encourage air to get in. It's a pain in the butt!

Stick together; good for cold liquids, need 2 cups for hot,

I agree with previous reviewers and wish I had read them before buying. The cups stick together very badly. And the hot liquids are too hot to handle; ok for cold liquids. Better than styrofoam, but needs improvement.
