5.0 out of 5 stars My 5 year old loved this book., February 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Nate the Great Stalks Stupidweed (Paperback)
My 5 year old son brought this book home from the library. He got very interested in the story. Since it was our first Nate the Great Mystery, it gave a craving for more. Next we read Nate the Great and the Missing Key. Now we're hooked on these series of books and we own the set.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Could You Possibly Not Love This Story?, May 19, 2011
By

This review is from: Nate the Great Stalks Stupidweed (Paperback)
This is such a great story. Just the premise, a young girl picks weeds that "nobody wants" and finds them new homes at her Adopt-a-Weed sale. OMG. How can you not love that? Some knee slapper quotes for the five-year old.

from a Rosamond song:
"Be proud you're a weed
wild and free,
and you might grow up
to be a tree.

'Rosamond thinks big' I said, 'as well as strange.'"

There are a couple of other ones that your five year old will love. That's the whole point of this book. Nate the Great is driven to finding a STUPID weed and he doesn't like it, yet he dedicates himself to sleuthing and soon, the mystery is solved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stupidweed?, December 27, 2009
This review is from: Nate the Great Stalks Stupidweed (Paperback)
Nate the Great Stalks Stupidweed... Could they make it any more obvious?

A little recap of the plot:

Oliver loses his weed asks his buddy Nate the Great to help him find it. This isn't just any weed. It's dank superweed that Oliver bought off some hippie chick named Rosamond with tons of cats. Nate looks for the weed in the woods, the park, and even in the library before finally discovering that Oliver had accidentally crushed it in a book. Unfortunately, at that point it was too dry so they couldn't smoke it.

In defense of the author, Nate the Great doesn't condone drug use and cleverly dubs the superweed, "stupidweed" Nate prefers to spend his time in the library. A lot of friends he'll make!

An OK book for kids. A great book for adults! Light up a fattie and read on!
