I was looking at exercise bikes but there were a number of drawbacks. The bikes would have taken up my whole living room. They would be too heavy for me to move. And they were quite expensive, esp. the recumbent ones I liked. I saw this online and decided to give it a shot. I was expecting a flimsy piece of junk but was very pleasantly surprised. It's quite sturdy. The folding feature allows it to be stored under your couch when company comes. I read a few reviews that said these cycles make noise but I have not noticed that at all. I have also not encountered the slipping that some people mentioned. I use the cycle on a rug, not on a bare floor, which may make a difference. I have diabetes and a heart condition and it's important for me to get some exercise. This is a good choice for me. Sitting on a kitchen chair proved uncomfortable due to the fact that I am short. I found a living room chair that was just the right height. So far, I have used it every day. It's very easy to use it while watching TV at night. One segment of a show is about 13 minutes, so you do not even have to use the timer. I would absolutely recommend this to someone like myself.

I bought this to move my legs while I'm on the computer or watching TV. Although setting it up is easy (one screw) the final product is not worth the money, in my opinion.

- The grips do not stay in place on the cycle nor do they grip to the floor (hard or carpeted).
- The foot loops are plastic and feel cheap and poorly constructed - they did not secure my feet.
- There is a resistance knob, but it is difficult to turn and only has two settings - free and easy or slightly more difficult. When pedaling, it is hard to achieve and even flow, instead it feels choppy (probably from the poor resistance).
- The little black timer counts seconds but nothing else and is difficult to reset (though easy to pause).

This product would probably be better suited for hand pedaling as a way to get your heart rate up when other exercise is too difficult or dangerous, but for someone who just wants a little more movement during a sedentary job - the 40.00 would be better spent else where.

It's good for what it is supposed to do, in the sense, it will provide you a way to exercise your legs, not the best possible way you want to, but it will provide you a way.
My only beef with this bike is that, it's kind of a jerky motion when you are pedalling it. The reason for the jerky motion is the lack of a FLYWHEEL, tadaa.. But we cant expect a whole lot for the price ... and hence the title for this review.
Goods: Small, Folds, Light, variable resistance
Bads: Jerky motion, tends to move away unless you sit on a very high chair.

The InStride Cycler delivers a nice work-out. The convenience of being able to use it almost anywhere in my home is a big plus. It is lightweight, makes no noise and takes up very little space. I immediately noticed that my legs felt light and really good. I could feel the circulation flowing. I also use it on a table for an upper-cardio workout. It stays firmly in place on a tile floor and on my wood floor I cut a piece from my yoga mat & it stays in place beautifully. The most important thing about the InStride Cycler is that I use it several times a day - unlike other fancier equipment that wound up collecting dust. After checking other websites, I found Amazon had the best price too. I highly recommend this product!

My plan was to buy a folding exercise bicycle online for $119.00 this week. Jogging in place was hurting my knees and I needed to change what I did for cardio. But I went to a second-hand store just to look and happened upon this folding cycle. I was impressed with the way it was made -- very high quality and sturdy. I liked the way you could adjust your feet in the pedals with the straps. So, for $8 I bought it. Looks new. Mine doesn't have a timer or whatever. But I use my sports-watch. Didn't even know it came with one until I looked at the above description. It's not necessary.

Brought it home and did my P.A.C.E. workout Pace: The 12-Minute Fitness Revolution (Exercise Workout Books) with it. Wow! My heart rate got higher than running in place. The workout was incredible. And, much to my delight, my knees were perfectly comfortable. It was like using a recumbent bike. The reason I can't run in place is bad knees and that's why I decided to get a bike.

I didn't have the problems others reported in their reviews. The bike stayed perfectly still on my carpet. Didn't move around a bit. I used a straight chair at a table and with my left arm held lightly to the chair and with my right arm held the table edge --- just for security and to get a more powerful ride.

It was the best workout I've had in a very long time and I appreciate the fact my knees didn't take a beating. Moreover, I don't have to endure the total discomfort of a bicycle seat!

I folded it and put it in a closet when I was finished. It was a very pleasant experience and I was pleased with my purchase. I was glad I didn't spend money on something more expensive and unnecessary.
