1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry I Bought It!!
I purchased this product based largely on customer reviews so I thought I better put in my two cents worth.

Seller was good and fast although box came in very damaged condition.

Bike was quite easy to put together, but I don't like it.

I don't know who thought up the handlebar design, but I find it awkward and uncomfortable to use...

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised, June 30, 2006

I bought this bike to rehab from knee surgery. At this price point I was willing to take a chance and buy it sight unseen. It works as advertised and I've incorporated it into my daily exercise routine.

The bike is quiet when in use; I've used wind trainers before that sound like cyclones compared to this bike. I don't have to crank the TV to hear it while pedaling. The tensioner has 8 levels and provides a good spectrum of wheel resistance. The electronics controlling the 6 exercise programs, timer, calories burned, distance traveled, and pulse all work well.

The only minor negatives:
1. The setup instructions were clear but hooking up the tensioner was unnecessarily difficult. Took 20 minutes and a lot of sweat.
2. The stabilizer bars (front and back) are just a tad short, so there is a slight side-to-side movement as you pedal. Nothing serious.
3. As you exercise, the LCD readout cycles through all the stats...would be nice to be able to select what data you monitor.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase, esp at this price, and can recommend it others.

I received this bike as a birthday gift and am please overall with it. One irritant I found was that some of the hardware was already installed on the bike, so I spent 10 minutes looking for screws, nuts, and washers that were already on the bike. Just be aware that when you purchase this, even though there is a separate package of hardware that comes with the bike, the majority of the hardware is already installed so don't assume that you got shorted some pieces.
The tension is a little difficult to set up and I plan on looking more into it. I did what the instructions told me to, however there doesn't seem to be an "easy" setting so far on this bike. The tension setting range is from 1 - 8, with 1 being the easiest, but I don't notice any differences between the ranges.
I know the other person that reviewed this bike didn't like that it cycled through the information while riding, but I actually prefer that it does. I found it nice to be able to just look at the screen and know how many miles I had ridden, what my speed was, etc..without having to interrupt my workout to push any buttons.

I've only had this for a couple of days, but I'm pretty happy with it. The set-up wasn't too hard except for connecting the tension cable which took quite a bit of fiddling. The bike sits pretty high, and since I'm short it's a bit awkward to get on, but the seat is comfortable and the machine is very quiet.

For the other reviewer with the complaint about cycling through the stats on the display. You can easily set the display to show only one stat: just read the manual.

Update: I've had the bike for a couple of months now. I use it 4-5 days a week for about 30 mintues a day. It's holding up well and I'm still very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Exercise Bike!, January 8, 2007

I have had this bike for over 3 months and ride it about 5 to 6 days a week for 20 to 25 minutes each day. It is a Great Bike! It was easy to assemble (though I did have my husband doing most of it) and takes up very little space. I keep it close to the TV so that I can ride it while watching my favorite shows. It is very quiet. It has more features than what I use - I just want to know how long I'm riding, how fast, and how far. But I'm sure the extra features may appeal to others. I highly recommend this bike. It was very reasonably priced and was well worth the money.

I am usng this bike as rehab after hip replacement surgery; it's very quiet & has adjustable resistance which is good for leg strengthening. I plan to continue using it as part of an overall fitness program.
My only complaint is the height of the seat; even at its lowest level, it is a "stretch" for a short woman like me(5 feet)to mount.

I purchased this product based largely on customer reviews so I thought I better put in my two cents worth.

Bike was quite easy to put together, but I don't like it.

I don't know who thought up the handlebar design, but I find it awkward and uncomfortable to use. (too far forward) Also the seat is at the wrong angle (and unadjustable) . In use it is jerky and not at all smooth. The pulse feature didn't work.

I'm sorry I bought it and will only use it until I find a better model. I've used some good bikes and some bad and although it is not the worst, it's pretty bad.

Maybe you'll like it better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected!, November 28, 2007

This review is from: Stamina Pro 15-5300 Silent Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike (Sports)
I actually bought this through GNC's website after finding it on Amazon. I wasn't sure what to expect after some of the reviews here, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I've been wanting a stationary bike for awhile, as biking is the only activity I can do since having foot surgery last year. This bike seems like a good way to regain the muscle tone in my legs.

It did take awhile for us to put together- probably about 45 minutes. You'll definately need two people for certain parts.

The bike is very comfortable to use. The seat is large and well cushioned, comfortable to sit on for awhile. It can be adjusted to a good range of heights. I'm 5'9" and there were several pegs above and below my setting. I'm still getting used to actually getting on the bike, but I wouldn't recommend this model for anyone with a hard time climbing over objects. The base rises about 2 feet off the ground, so the recumbant model might be better for anyone with an injury or problems lifting their legs.

The technology is great too. I've never used anything beyond a basic fan bike before so I was really excited about the 6 different programs they offer along with the 8 tension settings. I've only played with a few of the programs but there seems to be a good variety of challenges. My favorite part has been watching my progress on the panel. It shows your speed, distance travelled, calories burned, time left, and heart rate. This is really helpful to motivate me to reach the end of my workout and stay within my target heart rate.

I would definately recommend this bike. For the price it's very high quality and the features are really nice. It's a quiet bike, not too heavy when assembled, and it's very quiet.

1.0 out of 5 stars 15-5300 Silent Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike, April 21, 2007
This review is from: Stamina Pro 15-5300 Silent Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike (Sports)
I bought this on amazon and used the free shipping and received it about a week and a half later... Took it out of the box, it's pretty simple to put together (took about an hour). But after about 20 minutes of riding the bike on tension # 6 the rubber belt has flipped off it's wheel (like a bike chain off its gears). The bike is now completely useless as there is no resistance anymore. And I can't get to the belt to try and fix it because the cover is impossible to take off without breaking it. Tried calling customer service but they are only open on weekdays 9-5, going to have to call them from work on Monday.

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to get a more quality item than this. It'll save yourself a trip to the dump, too. This bike is a piece of junk.

2.0 out of 5 stars exercise bike review, January 12, 2007
This review is from: Stamina Pro 15-5300 Silent Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike (Sports)
Description of bike was misleading. Weight limit of person using this exercise bike should have been part of description. Small print in booklet accompanying bike says it is unsafe for more than 250 pounds.
Although I weigh slightly less than this, I am afraid to use the bike for fear of it falling apart. I would not have purchased the bike had I seen this limit in the description. Also, the directions for operation of this bike are very complicated. I thought I was purchasing a simple exercise bike, not such a complicated piece of machinery. This bike would be perfect for a younger, more athletic, slimmer person.

This is a great item! It's perfect for me. The bike was really easy to assemble, and it tucks away nicely in corners when not in use. Also, the seat is big and jelly-like, which is comforting for my rear-end.
