Good value workout machine, some minor issues,
By
This review is from: Stamina 1772 Magnetic Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
This is good choice if you don't have the money for the more expensive machines. I've had this for about 3 months now, and I use it almost every day and I'm getting into good shape.
The first issue I had with this is I noticed right out of the box that the cover had a crack and was peeling, so I crazy glued it all down. The second issue I had was that they gave me the wrong sized bolt for the stabilizer, so I went to the hardware store and bought a longer one. The third issue I had was when I started using it, the pedal arm kept unscrewing itself off and I had to constantly tighten it back down. I think I resolved that one now by tightening it basically until my arm hurt. Another issue I have is some minor squeaks now and then. Don't let these small issues scare you away from purchasing this item though. If you go in not expecting the highest quality but wanting a sturdy workout machine and willing to fix some minor issues yourself, then you won't go wrong with this. For the price I think it's about the best you can do for a new machine online.

So far I love my stamina. It takes two people to put it together and don't lose any screws, because there are no extras, but, other than that it's been great. It really is very quiet so I can listen to music or watch TV without having to blare it. I've had it for three weeks and I can already feel my muscles and heart getting stronger.

This item arrived with a cracked motor body, however, it did not interfere with the functioning of the machine. The assembly took 2 evenings but instructions were fair. The machine initially worked fairly well. As time went on, it became noisier and noisier, and as I tracked down one squeak and tightened that bolt, another area would take over squeaking. A couple of months ago, I received a notice on it that it was dangerous to continue use, but only included instructions on how I should rebuild it to make it safer, no parts or recall. Now, the shaft that holds on a foot pedal has stripped out, and it is non-functional. This is a part that was factory pre-assembled. Of course, warranty is out, so I have contacted the manafacturer. Will see if I can get this thing working again. I have only used the machine lightly, so it should have lasted longer than the 9 months I have owned.

The machine works. And I guess that is the most important part. But was it worth the trouble?
The package arrived opened and ripped. I left photos on the packaging feedback page. Luckily, the weather was fine and the product was not damaged because of this. However, when I opened the box . . . The handle bar on the main frame was completely rusted. Per the manual instructions, I called the manufacturer directly, who was happy to send me a replacement part. However, I still have a rotted, rusted, part that I now have to discard myself. It's not a small item. Although I did received the replacement, it took an entire week and this piece was also rusted, but not nearly as bad. I kept it, not wanting to wait another week for a new, rusted part. The plastic covering on the main frame was torn. I noticed another buyer also has this issue. This does not effect the machine's performance, so I taped it down. It's not the easiest thing to put together. The instructions are a little confusing. The main "neck" with the handle bars have 2 cables in the tube that connect to the base, and to the readout on top. When connecting to the base, I recommend you unscrew the cable connector and screw up the metal piece on the cable. Otherwise, this is impossible to connect (in Step 3). I also recommend pulling the cable through to the top and fastening it to something before putting the machine together. When connecting to the top piece, the cable was in the tube, out of reach. We had to unfasten the piece from the base and push the wire to the top. So......if you order, just be wary of the packaging and the rust. And don't put it toether with anyone you don't like, b/c a fight may ensue! :) Good luck!

This is an absolute piece of crap.
We bought a reduced price stamina 1772 elliptical floor model, BUT brand new, so it only had a 10-day return policy. 13 days later the left foot pedal fell apart, and would not reassemble because a vital bolt had stripped. I had to jimmy-rig with bolts and nuts from the hardware store. A week later the whole thing just locked up (would not pedal). I had to totally disassemble, jimmy-rig and fix. Not worth the money you save at any price.

Took several hours to put together. The tension knob doesn't work properly, tension should range from 1-8 (8 being highest) it won't go below 5. Very difficult to use at that tension; when just getting started. Left foot pedal keeps falling off.

if you are on a budget and just need something, this will work...it's not as good as the ones at the gym but at least its something that helps you burn calories.

I brought this thinking that this machine would help me. I have been using this machine for a while now. Two very wrong things first you have to have very long arms the handles are very far. Second the feet place are small and my husband who wears 12 in shoes can't use it. I wear size 5 1/2 in shoe. It wobbles a lot that is when the left side of the step is working, a metal defect. I use to have to go only backwards, going forward would disconnect the left side from the machine now I have only ten minutes of workout before I have to use a wrench to fix the left side.

I bought this machine based on some of the previous reviews I read, and I really like it. It really wasn't all that hard to assemble if you follow the directions it did take a couple of people for one part of the assembly, but other than that it was easy. I love how quiet and smooth this machine is. I think it is a great machine for the cost.

Quiet and comfortable but not without its flaws.,
This review is from: Stamina 1772 Magnetic Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I read the reviews for the trainer because I wanted something quiet. It is definitely quiet and pretty comfortable to ride. The only problem we have is that one of the screws on the pedals continues to loosen when we go backwards. It's easy to notice because it starts clicking when the screw becomes loose, but still dangerous especially if my kids get on it. We've solved the problem by only going forward.
