It's easy to put together and works smoothly. The rower itself is decent, but depends on what you plan to use it for. If you are a beginning rower or plan to use it competitively or even to warm up before going out on the water, I would not recommend this product. Rowing is a leg sport and all the high end machines I've used are built with this in mind. This Stamina Air Rower however, had an issue with this concept; the resistance on the band didn't kick in until I was into the last part of my stroke (the arms). The basic pattern of a stroke is legs, back, arms. Your legs are supposed to do the hardest work because they fatigue the least, but because of where the highest amount of resistance kicked in, my arms did the bulk of the work and I tired out way too quick.

If you buy it for general exercise or for therapeutic reasons, it's probably ok. Alternatively, if you are a regular rower and have been in shells this is not a device for you, not even for warming up - you'll be frustrated with it quickly. It might be ok if you have really short arms and really long legs though.

Lastly, the metal support under where the foot braces are was bent upward so when I folded it for storage it was fine, but when I tried to unfold it, I had tons of trouble. I ultimately returned it for a refund because of this and because of the reasons mentioned above.

I used this rowing machine every day for about 3 years and it's still in excellent condition. I'm passing it on to a friend, since I now use other forms of exercise. I lost a lot of weight with this machine, so I highly recommend it. It gives a terrific, total body workout...tones all the muscles, gives good cardio exercise, and offers plenty of resistance. It's easy to use and offers low impact workouts. There's no variety, but rowing itself is an excellent form of exercise, and can be alternated with other types of workouts.

It was easy to put together, and everything was included. It is quiet and works well. Be sure you notice that the weight restriction is 250 pounds. I'd amend that to 225 pounds to be safe. It isn't gym quality, but neither is the price. Ours gets used ever day for about 1.5 hours.

I used to row regularly on a Concept2 at my University, and it was a great full body workout. After finishing school, I wanted to get a rower to add to my humble home gym. I looked at the Concept2 and they cost over a thousand dollars. While they are worth the money, they are not in my budget being a recent grad. I bought this rower and although it is not as great as a Concept2, it provides a pretty decent workout. You cannot beat $299 for a rowing machine. It definitely does require you to use more upper body strength, and it is difficult to get the heart rate up, but after using it about 5 times, I have adjusted to it. I am able to get a pretty good workout from it, and it seems to be holding up well. This is a good rower if you are on a budget. I think it will last me long enough, until I can afford a Concept2. I have not had any issues with it so far, and it only took about 30 minutes for me to put it together. It is light weight and hardly takes up any space. The only con I have thus far besides its comparison to a Concept2, is the noise level. It definitely sounds like you're firing up a jet engine.

As a runner for over 30 years injuries and health issues has led me to switch to rowing as my primary form of aerobic exercise. In March of 2012 I purchased a low cost Stamina machine with a piston resistance system. The machine provided low to moderate aerobic benefits, however there was a problem with the seat rollers which had to be replaced three times, also the piston needed to be replaced. After 3 months Stamina would no longer replace the rollers at no cost so I began researching alternatives and decided an air rower was the best choice. I again selected a Stamina product. I am somewhat disappointed in the fairly low level of resistance this machine offers (resistance cannot be adjusted). I use the machine for over 2 hours a day 3 to 4 days a week and after three weeks something in the fan assembly began to bind up and I got plenty resistance and plenty of noise. Stamina sent me a whole new fan assembly body at no cost which I have just replaced. Because of the low level of resistance I perform long sessions on the machine to achieve an acceptable level of aerobic benefit. Stamina customer service has been very responsive, however the amount of repairs required on both products I purchased from them leaves me questioning my choice.

The rower was easy to assemble and the instructions were easy to follow. The tools to assemble it are included and every nut, bolt and screw is labled for easy identification. The product is well contructed and is very solid. I've been using it for 10 - 20 minutes per day and my arms and legs are sore. When I am not using the rower I simply tilt it up against the wall where it doesn't take up much space. It's a great workout and I am very please with the purchase.

I use the more expensive rower at the Y sometimes and find that the Stamina is just as good. Highly recommended!
