I love my new elliptical! For the price, it's not a bad machine. It does squeak a little though, and the distance monitor is very wrong. I don't think I can do a mile in under 5 minutes! Other than that, it was what I expected for the price.

I bought a Stamina elliptical for $699 from Amazon in October 2009. Last week the control panel started smoking and almost started a fire. I called up Stamina and they said the elliptical was out of warranty (90 days for parts) and would not send me a new one. I told them my house could have burned down and they still didnt do anything. I wouldnt not buy from them. Period.

Good product overall, but with some notes. Assembly required - cable runs in some sections to be joined. Magnetic tension setting 1 is still tough (or I'm in really bad shape). It may be due to our assembly of product, where cables need attachment in sections, and diagram showed some detail. Good product for the price, but assembly is left for someone who does this type of work.

I received this yesterday. It took my Husband and I around 6 hours to get the thing together. The reason it took so long is that some of the parts were warped and had to be hammered back into place. The mainframe unit came splintered at the top and there are places where the coating on the outside is peeling away. The worst part is that the very first time I used it (and I way significantly less than 250lbs) the left arm that cranks the machine FELL COMPLETELY OFF!!!!! It caused me to fall off the machine and hit the center pole. I was not seriously injured but I could have been. It fell off because the manufacturer FORGOT TO PUT ON A BOLT TO HOLD IT IN PLACE!!!! If I had been going at full speed I could have broken a toe, foot, leg, arm, banged my head, etc. I called the manufacturer to explain that they are sending unsafe product to consumers and they acted like they didn't care and just took down my information and story and said they would report it. DO NOT BUY THIS HORRID MACHINE IT IS NOT WORTH THE $299 YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR IT!!!!

this review is for the stamina air resistance elliptical. i'm commenting here because amazon no longer posts this item. but my review is based on a similar product and the same company.

i purchased my elliptical two years ago roughly. i paid about 120 bucks for it. back then, my decision came down to stamina's air resistance model (cheaper) and magnetic version. i went with the budget elliptical since i wasn't sure how often i'd use it. i'm happy to say that i got 1.5 good years out of the machine.

but i wasn't able to use the stamina elliptical as long as i wished. half a year ago, i started hearing a noise as if a spring was hitting another component while i was pedaling away. i didn't think too much of it except the noise escalated to an embarassingly obnoxious level. i've been off it ever since.

yesterday, i got some free time and decided to investigate the cause. disassembled some more today, and i just found out that the aluminum frame has cracked at a connection that bears my weight. as a result, the internal components wobble and grind together when i'm working out. i'm 145 pounds, not too heavy in my view.

i'm disappointed about this discovery and will take this into account on my next potential purchase of a stamina product.
