From School Library Journal
ea. vol: rev. ed. index. Sterling. 1986. PSm $8.95; PLB $12.49. Grade 5 Up Both books are informative and well organized; both cover reasons for starting collections, how to start, techniques of collecting, identification, buying, selling, and sources for assistance. Hobson writes in a clear and enthusiastic style, but is often repetitive. Revisions are infused thoughout the books to include new minting and stamping. The black-and-white reproductions of stamps and photos of coins support the text and provide examples for classification and identification. The typeface is very small and may discourage some readers. Although there are no glossaries of terms or techniques for beginners, Hobson has provided useful tools. Janice C.
