4.0 out of 5 stars So simple yet so complex, January 23, 2001

I have worked with a lot of stampig techniques and have read a lot of stamping books and periodicals, but this book has something a little different. It teaches readers/stampers how to watercolor, with paints and w.c. pencils. It takes this seemingly simplistic technique one step further. Filled with loads of full-color illustrations, this is an extremely helpful how-to book. If you're looking for a book that shows you tons of cards to make, then this book isn't for you. This is more geared towards those who want to learn the art and craft of watercolor painting with stamping. Why only four stars? Come on, technique books can be a bit--you know--boring. (I read this book the first time through before bed at night.) But this doesn't take away from its straightforward approach, good teaching, and clever techniques. It's a tool, not a whiz-bang fun read. And a good tool it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy to have bought it., March 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Stamp in Color: Techniques for Enhancing Your Artwork (Pastimes) (Paperback)
I only just received this book today and was so pleased that I have made the right choice about adding it to my collection of rubber stamping books. The cards in there are very easy to make -- the techniques are simple yet not something I would dream of that can make the end-result turn out so well. The author has chosen the colors combination very well. From the instructions and projects shown, I was able to make cards that look simply gorgeous.

One section of the book mentioned about the use of ink-jet to color print your card and you can pour on embossing powder immediately and proceed as usual. What an enlightening piece of advice. Thanks, Dave.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instructions for simple and elegant artwork, August 15, 2001
This review is from: Stamp in Color: Techniques for Enhancing Your Artwork (Pastimes) (Paperback)
As a long-time rubber stamper, I found this book to be a great resource for how to color my stamped images with colored pencils and/or watercolors. The instructions are clear with corresponding colored photos and the colors he uses are very pleasing to the eye. This is not a book on how to stamp or create a variety of cards - but many examples using the same pencil and watercolor techniques.
