It's About Time!,
By Rob Staffig (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stan Bush (Audio CD)
I bought the "Stan Bush" first album on cassette. After years of playing it I literally wore it out! I'm so glad it's finally released on CD... Every track is great, especially the songs, All American Boy, It's Hot and Don't Accuse Her! Definately deserves a 5 star rating, too bad it took so long to come out on CD but it was well worth the wait to be able to hear Stan's first album again!

For AOR diehards only,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stan Bush (Audio CD)
A mediocre collection of early '80s pop-rock, "Stan Bush" comes across as a kind of poor man's Eddie Money or John Parr... without the hits, of course. Bush is a more than capable guitar player, and certainly holds his own vocally, but it's the lyrics on this album that eliminate the possibility of any further recommendation. From the opening number "It's Hot" ("we got a fire that's burnin'/let's give it everything we got/we got a fire that's burnin'/girl and it's hot") to the testosterone-drenched teen anthem "All American Boy" (got a big stratocaster and my band is hot... got a chain on my mirror made of beer can tops/a chip on my shoulder better not knock it off"), the lyrical content of these songs is almost comical. There are a couple of bright spots. "Fire In My Heart" and "Keep Your Love Alive" are both durable rockers, and somehow manage to avoid the lyrical cliches that pepper the rest of the recording. That said, however, "Stan Bush" is most likely best left for AOR diehards only.

Stan the MAN!,

Just listening to the Bush track The Touch, makes me realize that I can totally transcend myself to a better existence. It make me feel that I can do anything for anyone. If you feel that way too, then try this early work. OMG Stan needs to live and produce forever until the oceans cover the Earth. Stan you rock on forever, man. My first born is named Stan, yes for you big guy; God willing he'll rock even half as much. Stan I love you as a man and so much more!!!!!And no Stan, YOU'VE GOT THE TOUCH!!!!!!

"Poor Man's Eddie Money??"...the reviews of other writers make me laugh! The musical talent of this man far transcends that of any "Poor Man's" music, especially here on the debut album! His best work, and yes you are right....this IS for only lovers of pure and authentic AOR! A masterwork!
