A jazz classic,
By C.A. Arthur (Tacoma, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stan Kenton: The Man and His Music (Paperback)
This splendid, privately published book consists of twenty four interviews with Stan Kenton friends and associates. The author, extremely knowledgeable (and worshipful), draws out a wealth of information on one of the most important figures in American music. No serious student of jazz will want to miss this important contribution. All Kenton fans will relish it.I haven't read anything so interesting in years. In addition, this handsomely produced book could used as a model for oral history on the highest level.

This review is from: Stan Kenton: The Man and His Music (Paperback)
I bought this as a Christmas present for a friend, who reported back that it was fabulous in detail. It appears to be a self-published book, thus the price for a paperback, but the author spent years tracking down those associated with Kenton. My friend is a true jazz buff and knows what he is talking about, and he said, "First rate!"
