IT'S A SHAME THERE'S NO ONE TO UNDERSTAND JEWEL, October 15, 2003
This review is from: Stand / Leave the Lights on (Audio CD)
Sadly I have heard many criticism on Jewel for changing to a more fast sound rockin! style, but I see it like a New Wave Jewel, it's so great!, shes' just an artist that deserves to improve herself, and give us magical tunes that touches your mind!, this is a great Social Interested Song, great Lyrics, great music, and amazing vocals, another Hit for Jewel, buy this is worth the money!

"Stand" has those stand-out, almost crossing the line lyrics that make Jewel who she is. However, in my opinion, though some may not agree the touch of R&B that grace this song, NO, does not work with these words. The song to me sounds like "Who Will Save Your Soul" meets Destiny's Child. Its got the modern top 40 R&B groove mixed with deep lyrics. Its a good new expiriment, but however, I've followed Jewel from the beginning and would much rather prefer to see the next album be another "Pieces of You" rather than this stuff again. So maybe she's grown as an artist, I credit her for that, but me also being a fan of trance and electronica, I must say that Jewel does not do such a good job at the attempt, however like I said, I credit her for trying. Maybe from this she'll learn. Buy Stand, I said it once before, its one of the better songs off this album.

Not As Good As "Intuition", But..., October 17, 2003
This review is from: Stand / Leave the Lights on (Audio CD)
this is still a decent song from Jewel's 0304. So many people have labeled her as a sell-out, yet lyrically, this song is actually deep and has meaning...not to mention a catchy chorus. The B-side "Leave the Lights On" is decent too.
