4.0 out of 5 stars If you like Yngwie Malmsteen . .
you will like Chris Impellitteri. Impellitteri is Yngwie neo-classical combined with Blackmore-ish gothic. The guitar work is impressive. "Secret Lover" is one of the finest, rythmic lead guitar solos I've heard - it takes up the entire second half of the track and has to be cranked up. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" will freak you out at first...

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT SET OF LUNGS AND A GREAT GUITAR, July 8, 2007

I'll keep it short and simple . If you're a Graham Bonnet fan , then this cd is a must. I've always been a Bonnet fan and recently found out that he recorded 2 cd's (this one and System X ) with a guitarist named Chris Impellitteri . Well Impellitteri is a fantastic and amazing guitar player and Bonnets amazing vocals go perfect together . It really is a great cd from start to finish. Pick it up !

Impelliteri's STAND IN LINE interested me since Graham Bonnet was listed as the singer. Otherwise, I had never listened to anything by Impelliteri. Shame on me. Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews you might see about this CD. This is not for the weak at heart by any means. Chris Impelliteri and his guitar are a lethal combination and with Bonnet's vocals this album will knock you out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainbow's Down to Earth, Part 2, December 15, 2004
This review is from: Stand in Line (Audio CD)
This is an excellent hard rock pyrotechnics show. Great writing, wall-of-sound production, and top-notch musicanship make this a delight. And add in the wild vocal acrobatics of the incredible Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow, MSG, etc.), and you've got a screaming hard rock classic. If you dig Rainbow's "Down to Earth," you'll dig this too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just when you thought it couldn't get any faster..., March 5, 2008

Debut album from American neoclassical guitar shredder Chris Impellitteri originally released in 1988. At the time the narrow neoclassical metal scene was dominated by Yngwie Malmsteen's "Rising Force". Obviously wanting a piece of the sales pie, Impelliteri recruits Graham Bonnet (who had once taken Malmsteen under his wing) and put together the greatest alterative the scene had to offer with the addition of bassist Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot, House of lords) and Pat Torpey on drums (Mr. Big).

Music wise the songs sound quite like an updated version of "Alcatrazz" while certain riffs sound more than familiar to Malmsteen's "Rising Force-Marching Out" album. From there on things get rocketed. For starters the production is top quality with devastating guitar sound and perfectly sustained drums. The real selling point of Impellitteri however is the speed at which the guy plays; It is quite difficult to describe what is like soloing twice as fast as Malmsteen but "Guitar racer" could feed the imagination, the guy's guitar just erupts with notes.
Although in theory it has all been done before, one can not help but be impressed when hearing Impellitteri shred for the first time.

4.0 out of 5 stars An all-in-all great 80s guitar-rock package, July 5, 1999
By A Customer
A couple of friends and I searched high and low in the early 90s looking for CD copies of this excellent release by under-appreciated guitarist Chris Impellitteri and his very tight combo. The technical mastery of the guitar riffs is impressive and vocalist Bonnet has a voice with no shortage of power. The title track is awesome as is the great improvement over the original as shown in their reincarnation of Rainbow's "Since You've Been Gone," my personal favorite. After months of searching I finally found a copy for about $30 at a seedy record store in Minneapolis. Too bad Amazon wasn't around back then.

Chris Impellitteri dazzles with blazing speed and Malmsteen-esque neo-classical chops. Joined by Graham Bonnet on Vocals this album delivers the late 80's guitar metal punch of an art long since forgotten. Some highlights include the title track, "Stand in Line" and the instrumental "Somewhere over the Rainbow". Also included is the cover of the hit "Since You've Been Gone" which Bonnet originally cut with Richie Blackmore's Rainbow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Graham bonnet rules., January 19, 2005
This review is from: Stand in Line (Audio CD)
What can i say about this great hard rock rainbow like album?
Graham bonnet create with his voice, fantasy and mysterious
images in the mind of the audience.
The only bad in this album is the two unnecessary instrumentals
"over the rainbow" and "playing with fire".Chris impellitteri
almost destroy with this two useless instrumentals that great album.
All the other songs are just hard rock masterpieces.
Four stars for a great hard rock album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stand In Line...and learn, January 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stand in Line (Audio CD)
Chris Impellitteri has always been blasted as 'the Yngwie clone'. Anyone playing classical/exotic scales very, very fast in the '80s was labeled with that tag. Yeah, a couple songs remind you of YJM, but 'Tonight I Fly' and 'Secret Lover' is not even close. Bonnet on vocals just fits this album perfectly, blending with Chris' playing on every song. 'Rainbow' gets hacked-on, but I thought it was fitting considering Chris' tragic childhood; perhaps his Grandmother played this for him to make him smile (who knows..it has some righteous shredding in it throughout). Probably my favorite shred album (non-instrumental) of all-time. Maybe if YJM's 'Rising Force' had a better vocalist, I may say otherwise. But CI can definitely play in the Shawn Lane zip code.

Great album from the Music & Solos, except the recording is poor, sounds like early 80's recordings, but overall excelent album. Great vocals from Graham Bonnnet, more than 5 great songs on it including Playing with fire, Stand in line & the best one ofcourse Tonight I fly, I do recommend this album for Guitar fans.
