I previously purchased the actual Glif, which this product copies, but I lost it. I didn't want to spend another $20 to replace it, but found this product is now available (it wasn't when I purchased the Glif). Having owned both products, I can tell you that they are both virtually identical, and this copy works just as well as the original. Save yourself about $15 and get this.

This is a cheap knock off of the Neat Glif stand. I thought it would work, but turns out this is a very poorly made replica that doesn't even live up to its own product photos. The product arrived and looked cheaply made... I could barely fit my iPhone into the stand as the plastic looked slightly warped and I was afraid of scratching it.

Then on to install on my tripod... no go. The threads are NOT metal as in the product photos. It's just one solid piece of plastic. I'm not even sure it HAS any threads because I couldn't get it secured on my tripod mount at all.

Worthless piece of junk plastic and a total waste of money.

To make matters worse I tried to contact the company about a return or refund and never even heard back. Buyer beware.

A bad knock-off of the Studio Neat Glif right down to the packaging. Didn't work at all for me. My iPhone doesn't have a case or screen protector so this holder was easy to test. The 'Sidekic' (the name on the cardboard holder this thing came with) could only hold the iPhone in a horizontal or near-horizontal position. Anything else, and the phone would swiftly fall from the holder. Fortunately, I tested this 'Sidekic' above a bed so there was no damage to the phone when it fell or slid out.

Ten minutes after my 'over the bed' trial, I was back on Amazon ordering the Glif, which arrived today. The Sidekic price is attractive, but that's the only attraction. The usability is just abominable. It's made of hard plastic instead of (what seems like) the hard rubber of the Glif. Since I have both holders here now, I did the same trials with both. No contest, the Glif could hold the iPhone in ANY position with no fear of the phone falling out of the holder. Based on my experience, I guess that all the positive reviews must be from people shooting video who want the phone to stay in a horizontal position only. Even then, any jostling of the tripod would send the phone out of its holder.

If you care about your phone, spend the extra cash and buy the Glif. This Sidekic is going back.

While this is an unapologetic rip-off of the Glif it functions well. The post hole mount on the mount I received wasn't quite deep enough for the two tripod mount screws I had access to, so I used a washer beneath the mount to be able to fully tighten the screw. I dinged it a star for this shortcoming. All in all, it's a serviceable mount and you can use the cash you saved to buy a nice video shooting app like FilMic Pro and/or iMovie. Similar to the Glif, you'll have to remove the case to use, but the flexibility of the rubberized plastic won't scratch your phone.

I held off ordering a Glif due to the price, and now I'm glad. This thing works great. It's so simple, small, light and cheap! I use it to mount my iPhone 4S on a microphone stand using an Edirol microphone stand adapter. When fully inserted in landscape position, it holds my phone quite securely. I would slap a heavy duty rubber band around everything in situations in which the phone might get knocked loose. Also, after reading other reviews, I took extra care when sliding my phone in to prevent damage to my screen protector.

Money well spent! I uploaded some photos of it in use.

I was looking at the Glif, but saw this for $14 less. I was pleasantly surprised. The fit and finish is as expected. After all, it is molded rubber with a metal insert, with threads. Attaches to iPhone 4S well. You can turn it upside down and it holds, but I wouldn't suggest this if you aren't holding it 3" over your bed. Look at the cool marketing materials for the Glif, then you can decide if you are paying $20 or under $6? Seems to solve the iPhone 4, in a tripod for a little while problem.

Was exactly as represented. It fit snugly. Was a little tricky at first snapping it on with my screen protector but I learned quickly. Once on it was very snug and even held in place upside down and even shaking it with a couple pounds of force. 6 bucks can't go wrong.

Rubber band or velcro band might be extra insurance to hold it on, especially for those who need their camera upside down or tripod mounted to the ceiling, :-)

I had a pic and not video but I guess no way to upload photo

I don't know how anyone who has one of these could say it's poorly made. It works great for me. I can hold on to the threaded part and shake it. It doesn't come loose. One of the one star reviews is obviously from a Glif employee, the other is probably just because his screen protector got ruined. This does slide tightly of the edge of the phone and will mess up most screen protectors. You also can't and shouldn't try using this with any case regardless of how thin it is.
