5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!
When i first heard of Everyday Sunday, it was when their song "Just A Story" from their now-defunct indie release "Sleeper" was being way over-played on Christianrock.net, and I didn't really like the song because of that. Several months later, I hear "Mess With Your Mind", and think, "Wow! Who is this?". Needless to say, I was...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!, January 10, 2003
This review is from: Stand Up (Audio CD)
When i first heard of Everyday Sunday, it was when their song "Just A Story" from their now-defunct indie release "Sleeper" was being way over-played on Christianrock.net, and I didn't really like the song because of that. Several months later, I hear "Mess With Your Mind", and think, "Wow! Who is this?". Needless to say, I was surprised to find it was Everyday Sunday! Because of that song, I went out and bought this CD. Now, I just can't get enough of it. High-quality music with fun lyrics and a great sound. These guys have a sound like no other band. Definitely recommended, especially for Jars Of Clay fans, because this band, like Jars of Clay, is trying to reach both pop and rock audiences. "Stand Up", the title track, is slower and less wild than most of the other songs on the disc, but it's still great. Whether it's the tongue-in-cheek lyrics of "Mess With Your Mind" ("I'll try not to mess with your mind / I'll try not to give you everything you ever wanted...") to the fun upbeat "rap" of "Wait" or the punkish "Just A Story", you'll love this CD. I'm impressed. For a new band, they're awesome!

The music rocks...the lyrics rock...and the guys are awesome! I went to college with Trey (the lead singer) and I can tell you that he is a stand-up guy with strong convictions. These guys are real...and thats what we need more of...

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy of the Jars of Clay mantle, October 16, 2002
This review is from: Stand Up (Audio CD)
This disc reminds me A LOT of the first offering from Jars of Clay. Passionate vocals, above average music hooks (choruses) and lots of likeable rough edges with a bunch of room for growth. I was impressed, but not altogether blown away by this disc. The more I listen to it the more I appreciate the CD as a whole. Stand Up seems to be a sure fire aim for radio airplay, but it works well. Stand outs include: Stand Up and Story of a Kid. A good disc to purchase if you need to have a pre "Much Afraid" Jars musical moment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just plain good fun., June 27, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Stand Up (Audio CD)
This CD doesn't have the lyrical depth of an offering from, say, Jars of Clay or dc Talk. Nor does it have the intricate musical detailing of either of those artists.

But this CD is just plain FUN. I blare it in the car and sing out loud on the way to work. The messages that Everyday Sunday shares are solid, even if simply phrased. Wake up, O sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Everybody's looking around and wants to be found...and I'm just hanging on. I will stand up now; I will not look down; I will do my best to wear this crown...but I need you as you guide me through today.

Everyday Sunday is a great guitar-and-drums band. Their lyrics are wholesome, their sound is fresh, and they rock without really telling us why. They just do.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Debut To Be Proud Of, January 10, 2008
This review is from: Stand Up (Audio CD)
Everyday Sunday comes onto the scene with a little heard bang, but a bang nonetheless. The first two tracks are great catchy rock songs that are sure to get stuck in your brain, unable to leave with it's good, clean rock. "Stand Up", although not a rock song, is a great highlight off the album.

Question: Why is their a remixed version of "Stand Up"? It sounds almost exactly the same, maybe just a little bit more polished. But overall the album is a great debut that has been overlooked by most of the industry, but for those who have heard it, it's a gem in their collection, and easily one of the best debuts EVER! And a whole step above Relient K's debut, which isn't saying much but hey, it's nice to know you're debut is better than the best band ever's debut. Get the album, and you'll love Everyday Sunday. You'll be an instant fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is solid, February 27, 2006

Everyday Sunday is a good band that made a great "1st" album. Their newer release "anthems for the imperfect" lacks the originality and heart that this album so smoothly conveys from start to finish. The sound on this album has a Janes Addiction/Cure feel to it and the true highlight is the voice of the lead singer. On a per song basis, I would say that I mostly enjoy every song past the first 2. The first song which starts off like Stop from Janes Addiction and ends up sounding like MMMBop from Hanson is a bit obvious in its "hey this is a first song song!" The second song is also just a can of spam kinda of "in your face we are" thing, the lyrics say "I'll try not mess with your mind", which with processed tunes like that you most certainly won't. If you can make it through these first two songs then you are hit with some really musically beautiful stuff. I can't say that lyrics are Everyday Sundays strong suit, but the emotion and range of the lead singer puts the story together quite nicely. Finally, this is probably the only good album Everyday Sunday will ever make, so on that alone you should buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD, can't wait to hear more, May 21, 2004

I was pleasantly surprised when I gave this CD a shot and found it to be a big hit for me. There isn't a song on here that I don't enjoy, which is a genuine accomplishment! The sound is catchy, the lyrics are interesting and the vocals are great as well. This has easily been the CD I've listened to the most in the last year and look forward to future efforts from Everyday Sunday.

I had the pleasure of going to one of Everyday Sunday's concerts and they blew me away. Before I went I only knew of one of their songs, "Hanging On," but after the concert I knew I had to get the album. Their songs have awesome melodies and their lyrics actually have depth to them. Great job.

Great CD by what I would expect to be an up-and-coming Christian band. More people need to hear all the great unheard of groups like Everyday Sunday, rocking with a catchy alt-rock sound. Looking forward to their next offering.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Kickin' Sound, September 17, 2003
This review is from: Stand Up (Audio CD)
There came a time for me where all the new Christian Rock bands sounded the same. Same beats, same messages, and even similar vocals. Everyday Sunday has come to break it up.

Their music is fun, energetic, and deep at the same time. You can't help but sing along. It's one of those albums you love to play loud. These guys havn't hit the big time yet, but it shouldn't take long with the talent they have.

When you do get this album, be sure to crank it on track 3. It may become your new favorite song.
