5.0 out of 5 stars First class continuation of "Virgin Soldiers", July 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stand Up Virgin Soldiers (Paperback)
I first read these books as a teenager (about 20 years ago) and can still highly recommend them. Leslie Thomas has a beautiful turn of phrase and an astute sense for character. He's also blessed with a dry sense of humour that will invariably put a smile on your lips. In a world of pumped-up bestsellers, it's a delight to rediscover a writer like this. Let me also recommend "This Time Next Week" which tells of his (?) life in a boys home following the death of his parents during the war.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very British and Funny!, August 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Stand Up Virgin Soldiers (Paperback)
I bought this book about 15 years ago while stationed in England and Leslie Thomas paints an outstanding picture of British Army life. A recommended read for anyone who enjoys such British authors as P.G. Wodehouse.
