Works on 8830 Blackberry,

This review is from: Standard Audio Adapter - 2.5mm Male to 3.5mm Female (For use with Blackberry 8800/8820/8830, Pearl 8100) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I use this adaptor with noise canceling earphones on my Blackberry 8830. There are limited instructions from Blackberry on how to get adpator to work. Do not plug in adaptor until you have the music program running on the Blackberry. Then when you plug in adaptor, the speaker on the Blackberry will turn off and the adaptor will work. If you plug in the adaptor prior to launching the music it will not work.

This device works as advertised.
Just start the song in the Blackberry and then plug in the adapter. I've had success with it using several sets of computer speakers. This application works great, just not a lot of volume. By buying a Radio Shack 3-Ft. Gold Series Stereo Y-Cable, Phono Plugs to 1/8" Jack ($7.49 Model: 42-2550 Catalog #: 42-2550) you should be able to use your Blackberry with a home stereo amplifier.

I had tried several other adapters with the Blackberry 8830 but this is the only one that worked properly.
I can now use any of my standard 3.5mm headphones with my Blackberry for listening to music!!!

Works, but not very durable,

I purchased this fairly expensive adapter about 3 months ago. The goal was to turn my BB 8830 into my daily music device. The product worked as advertised. But, after roughly two months of daily usage (in and out of my pocket, at the gym, etc.) the cable started fraying right after the 90 degree bend, near the male side. Today it broke off completely. For the price I paid ($13 after shipping) I expected a high quality product, what I got what a fairly cheaply manufactured item.
I would not recommend this product for "on the go" use as it will not withstand the abuse.

I purchased an adapter through RadioShack and it didn't work. This adapter worked fine. I would recommend purchasing this adapter.

I am only getting mono or just the right channel in some devices. I found some other reviews that say the order you plug it into the speaker device, the phone, and start the MP3 player all affect the ability to get stereo or not, but still no success in the car stereo, the place I really need it most!

The only way to get sound is to wiggle the cords and pull the head phones slightly out of the socket. Don't buy this.

Very convenient audio adapter. I've had it for over a year and no issues at at all. It worked like a charm for my Blackberry World Edition 8830 and works for other election devices as well that need a 2.5mm to convert to standard 3.5mm. Plus, you can't beat the price!

I got this Seidio adapter vs. other cheaper alternatives because I'd read some reviews where the others didn't work with the BlackBerry 8800 for a car ALT input. Mine worked perfectly in my '10 Civic. Just make sure you turn the volume to the right setting. Sometimes when you first plug in a different input the system defaults to zero volume, just turn up the dial & voila, there it is.

I'm happy to say this adapter works with my Blackberry 8830 World Edition. However I had to order it twice to get it right. I advice people with this model Blackberry order from seller eMobile at hand because it will work. I found out the hard way that two different sellers come up under this item number and the first time I ordered from Better Than OEM and the adapter didn't work. I have nothing against this seller. I just want to help others so they won't make the same mistake I did. I know how hard it is to find an adapter that works with this phone. I've tried several adapters at the local Radio Shack and none of them worked. Very frustrating, but now I'm grateful to have found one that works. Happy music listening to you all!
