I have owned a Standard Horizon Chart Plotter for 8 years on my Catalina 400 Sailboat. I upgraded to a newer model with better and brighter screen resolution and more functions and readouts. I am very pleased with this model because I was able to fit the new chart plotter in the same space that the older one was in. I also switched the C-Map card from the old plotter to the new one. It tells me the C-Map card is outdated, but it still works. The picture is so clear and easy to read. The color bright and easy to see even in bright sunshine and it is also high definition. This product is well worth the money I spent. I am sold on the Standard Horizon CP180I Chart Plotter. Standard Horizon makes a good product that is reasonably priced. I never thought I would be able to find boating products on Amazon. Amazon is great, it has or knows where to find anything!!

The CP180i is the first chart plotter I've owned and I like it very much. I've been using it for a month now and found it to be user friendly and it come with a quick reference guide to help out on the water. I didn't buy the C-Map chip with it so the standard map detail is lacking to some of the other units I looked at. I will be purchasing it for next season.
I reviewed all of the other brands of chart plotters in this price range and found that the 180i warranty is 3 years vs 1 year for them. It also has a 5" screen vs a 3" - 4" screen depending on the brand. I haven't had any problems viewing the screen in direct sun light. Boater's World said the unit would ship within 10 - 14 days and I received mine in 6 days. I recommend the CP180i.

Super simple,

Had this unit installed in no time. It comes with a fuse and holder for the wiring harness, wiring harness, swivel mount and screen protector. Connect to a (+) and (-) connection and you're good to go! I'll be hooking up the NMEA wires to my radio this weekend.
I used this unit on Penobscot Bay in Maine on June 27th and it worked well. It powers up fast and acquires a position with surprising speed. The base map is very basic at best. I had an old C-map card (1998) kicking around that worked great. Good thing Penobscot Bay hasn't changed much in the last 12 years. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the unit recognizes the old card and advises you that it is outdated. C-map, I understand, has a yearly membership program that allows you to upgrade your charts annually. Certainly worth the $89/year. The screen was bright and the controls easy to learn. My biggest gripe is the layout of the Owner's Manual. It was a little confusing and read a bit more like a technical manual than user's guide. That said, the unit comes with a Quick Start card which helps you through the basic operations. I would certainly recommend this to small boaters. I notice that the CP180i is compatible with a Black Box fish finder/sounder and a Sitex radar unit. I would definitely go with the larger screened models if I were to have these add ons as I feel the screen might be a bit small for multiple applications.
