This review is from: Standard Catalog of American Muscle Cars 1973-2006(Standard Catalog) (v. II) (Paperback)
When I bought this book, I was hoping to read about little known muscle cars of the late-1970's and early 80's, including cars like the powerful Dodge Polaras and Monacos driven by police both in real life and in movies. No such luck. The book covers what would have been considered Pony cars and sports cars at the time, things like Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds. There is nothing at all wrong with that, but they are not muscle cars by the truest definition. As is usual with his books, Gunnell did an excellent job researching the cars he does cover and presents a thorough and informative tome. I applaud him for his effort and for merely agreeing to tackle such an unloved time period in automotive history.
