5.0 out of 5 stars The standard in banknote collecting.
This book is the only comprehensive listing of bank note issues available, along with its sister books: Volume 1 for specialized issues and Vol 3 for newer issues. It would not be possible to be an informed collector without these volumes. They inlcude photos of most of the notes, estimated values in three different grades as well as an excellent introduction to the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nearly useless price guidance
The new edition of this catalogue is an extremely disappointing effort in terms of keeping up to date with price developments. A majority of the countries covered in this update have not been reviewed at all, resulting in a very misleading guide to collectors. If you have the previous edition, there is little incentive for you to buy this new edition. Editors should...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nearly useless price guidance, July 4, 2007
The new edition of this catalogue is an extremely disappointing effort in terms of keeping up to date with price developments. A majority of the countries covered in this update have not been reviewed at all, resulting in a very misleading guide to collectors. If you have the previous edition, there is little incentive for you to buy this new edition. Editors should really put much much more effort in updating prices, or simply stop printing updates of the catalogue altogether. Changing the cover picture does not justify a new edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST for a collector of old paper money., November 5, 1998
By A Customer
The book is of a great use not only for a bank note collector, but also for educational purposes, as it includes a brief history of every listed country, written numerals, dating systems even exchange rates of various countries. Paper money images serve as a great educational material about world's famous people, buildings, scenes from history and many more. Everyone may even use it for identifying various paper notes. It is definitely yours the best old paper money source in the world. While there is no better, believe me, there is none better yet, this book is the best and latest source for your paper money and educational needs.

An excellent catalogue. The only disturbing problem is that there are several mismatchs between pictures and descriptions. Unfortunately more frequent than in earlier issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Includes a DVD with pages of the book allowing for image enlargement up to 300%, May 11, 2009
George S. Cuhaj edits the 12th edition of STANDARD CATALOG OF WORLD PAPER MONEY GENERAL ISSUES 1368-1960, which includes a DVD with pages of the book allowing for image enlargement up to 300%. A brilliant idea for collectors needing feature details, this packs in a comprehensive feature by more than 230 note-issuing authorities, including 25,100 bank note varieties priced in up to three condition grades. A top pick for any collector's library.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1223 of BLACK AND WHITE pages, December 13, 2008
Well, yes, amazing amout of information (of course not all included but most of it is there). But how can I put in words the disappointment I had when I opened this book for the very first time... BLACK AND WHITE? Are we in the 50's? How can you enjoy the notes? How can you get the right impresion? Sorry, but no use...

4.0 out of 5 stars World Paper Money Vol. 1, March 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I knew the book was an older edition, and that the value data was outdated when I made the purchase. I was primarily interested in being able to identify items that I was previously unable to figure out. I'm satisfied with the book !!

2.0 out of 5 stars Less and Less Quality with each Edition of Catalog, October 6, 2010
I've been buying these catalogs for over twenty years. Each successive edition gets worse and worse in quality. First off, for all you new collectors, these catalogs have never been in color - always black and white. There are plenty of websites, ebay, etc to see color. Color illustrations would make this catalog's price restrictive to the point of stop publishing. Second, the DVD's are nice. Great to carry instead of heavy clumsy catalog when shopping at shows for WPM. Next, and unfortunately, this edition is terrible compared to past issues. Other critical reviews are correct where this edition fails: omissions, wrong illustrations connected to descriptions etc. This edition omitted an entire country - DJIBOUTI !! Under East Africa entire issues disappeared: 5 Shillings p28a? 10 Shillings ND (1941)? Where'd it go? Don't tell me it doesn't exist - past issues have listings and I'm looking at the note as I write this. And I've only gotten to the "E" countries!!! Finally, as other reviewers have stated, these catalogs are the only game in town for collectors. Buy em - use em - and do the hobby the best you can ! Happy Hunting !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Catalog of Worl Paper Money, October 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The catalog is in perfect conditions. The CD was sealed (never opened).

This catalog is very useful if you are very interested in bank notes collection. Very complete with descriptions and valuations.

I miss only one thing. It is not in color.
