5.0 out of 5 stars Not your father's old Physics class
Excellent and entertaining way to learn and understand Physics. These two DVDs are every well put together, explaining from basics to more challenging different laws and formulas of Physics. You can view different subjects, or view the whole program and later take exams on your DVD to see how much you learned from the program. It's a great way to review for CLEP...

As a teacher intent on instilling excitement in my students, it is painful for me to watch. Even I got bored and mind-numb after only a few minutes. Don't do this to your students! This video reinforces the notion that physics is only a bunch of equations you have to memorize. I don't believe they did this.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Middle School or High School, May 7, 2005
This review is from: The Standard Deviants - Physics Parts 1 & 2 (DVD)
I bought these as a way to possibly help with an online college physics course, but it was entirely too elementary. It may, however, be fine for high school review or clarification; it has no complex problem examples for any of the topics. But what could you want in a DVD series that summarizes all physics topics?

4.0 out of 5 stars Down Time, November 7, 2007
This review is from: The Standard Deviants - Physics Parts 1 & 2 (DVD)
I definitely think the videos could be more exciting. But if you are really trying to learn physics and are studying on your own. These tapes are a good way to spend your down time away from books and problems. You pick up little nuances that you may not see by staring at a bunch of words in a book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice simplification, May 21, 2008
This review is from: The Standard Deviants - Physics Parts 1 & 2 (DVD)
There are no actual experiments in these DVDs, however, they deserve some credit for this work. I used and still use the DVDs with my 8 year old son. I have almost every title of Standard Deviants that my son learns from since he was 4. They are not all created equally, I must say.
I conduct my own experiments to complement these Physics DVD. I also pause the DVD as necessary to go into depth, or explain with more details. Some people commented that the content is very simple, no real physics, well, it works fine for my second grader. He started watching them over a year ago. And we continually reuse them as he understanding of the concepts increases. However, no quantum physics info...

1.0 out of 5 stars stupid, May 8, 2008
This review is from: The Standard Deviants - Physics Parts 1 & 2 (DVD)
The problem with standard deviants is that they talk down to the viewer, and constantly make stupid jokes. These are made for little kids or something.
I wanted some real substance, but most of the video is full of stupid antics.

You can learn more in 2 hours than you could in 2 weeks. It's a great way to start learning the subject.
