This review is from: Standard Handbook for Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineers (Hardcover)
This is a handbook in which the working (or student) aetonautical/astronautical engineer will find the constants, mathematics, theories and practice of the various sub-fields of his profession.
These include: Mathematics Mechanical Engineering: Statics, Vibration, Fluids, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer Computing: Microprocessors, Instrumentation and Control Aerospace Structures Aerodynamics: Performance, Stability, Control Avionics and Astrionics Aeronautical Design Spacecraft Earth's Environment and Space Aircraft Safety Aircraft Maintenance Rather than a textbook on any of these subsidiary subjects, this handbook is intended to serve as a reference book, a refresher if you will, so that the working engineer with a problem has one source to use to answer virtually any problem he is likely to encounter. Mark Davies is listed as the Editor in Charge. Under him are three solid pages of contributors from literally around the world. They come from universities, government laboratories, industry and private consultancies. AC

This review is from: Standard Handbook for Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineers (Hardcover)
I bought this handbook when I entered the aerospace industry and I continue to be amazed at how much useful information it has for the engineering professional. I work with a variety of aircraft systems and the summary chapter on those topics is excellent. Now since this is a handbook it is by definition a high level look at the various topics of interest. But there are a myriad of details included that will help you understand how all aspects of an aircraft or spacecraft work together and how those vehicles interact with their environment. I recommend this book to anyone in the field.
