Book Description

0071384219 978-0071384216 December 20, 2004 5
The Standard Handbook of Electronics Engineering has defined its field for over thirty years. Spun off in the 1960’s from Fink’s Standard Handbook of Electrical Engineering, the Christiansen book has seen its markets grow rapidly, as electronic engineering and microelectronics became the growth engine of digital computing. The EE market has now undergone another seismic shift—away from computing and into communications and media. The Handbook will retain much of its evergreen basic material, but the key applications sections will now focus upon communications, networked media, and medicine—the eventual destination of the majority of graduating EEs these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Vital Resource with all the Information on the Field of Electronic Engineering, July 18, 2006
This review is from: Standard Handbook of Electronic Engineering, Fifth Edition with CD-ROM (Hardcover)
This edition of the "Standard Handbook of Electronic Engineering" is the most comprehensive, authoritative reference you will find in the shelves.

This book has all the information you will ever need on Electronic Engineering and related fields. Each topics was written by foremost authorities in their respective fields, limiting mathematical derivation in favor of useful bottom line expressions, stressing references hat are broadly informative rather than those that may be to arcane. The resulting work is intended to be practical rather than tutorial. Nevertheless, while applications and cost considerations are emphasized throughout, theory is included when is deemed to be helpful to comprehension.

This handbook will be useful to a wide range of readers, from undergraduate electrical and computer engineering students, to new graduates and experienced practitioners. Anyone who need quick access to a definition, mathematical expression, or like in my case, any working engineer who may need access to application information related to problems you may be experiencing, or to a new project you think you may be assigned to.

Definitively a must have for anyone related to the field of electronic, electrical or computer engineering. I am an Electronics Engineer, and I has been an industrial practitioner working for the last 16 years in the process industries. I have found this handbook, and its previous versions to be really useful many times.

As an invaluable bonus, you get the CD-ROM which includes 200+ extra pages of in-depth reference and archival material

5.0 out of 5 stars You Must Have This Book on Your Desk, July 26, 2007
This review is from: Standard Handbook of Electronic Engineering, Fifth Edition with CD-ROM (Hardcover)
This book is truely a "must have" on your desk or your book-case. While it is a very weighty volume and the pages are just a tab bit thinner then thety shoudl be it does make for a decent text on the subject matter, although the publishers would do well to break it into 5 or 6 thinner volumes in a better binding and better paper.

The CD is a real asset as you can drop the entire book into your laptop for ready reference when away from the office along with a dozen similar CD's.

All around this is a must have book for any electronics engineer.
