Anyone interested in learning more about Standard Schnauzers MUST get this book. It is informative, well written and has some great glossy colour photos of those wonderful Standard Schnauzers.

Get this book only if you do not ever read on the internet or have not had a dog before. Otherwise, this is a formulaic book of the form: the Schnauzer is a dog, and here is how to own a dog (did you know that crate training is recommended these days?!!! ugh). Photos like these can be found anywhere, and the book schills so hard for Nylabone, they should give me this book for free.

So many dog books are like this, am disappointed reviewers can not be more precise with their praise. Just flush $10 down the toilet and go to the Standard Schnauzer Club of America web site instead.

Still gets 2 stars because there is absolutely nothing wrong with what's there, just what is not, presentation is professional enough. As a former and current owner of other breeds, would like an author's opinion of how this dog is different, special, and what special needs and requirements are demanded of the relationship with it's owners, other Schnauzers and other pets, etc. Repeating the breed standard for me is not helpful.

Great book. 166 pages , over 200 photos and illustrations. International in scope.
As a Standard schnauzer owner/operator for 20 years, I consider the best book Ive seen re:SS.

Very presentable book with excellent color photos. The training section is also very good. The constant advertising of the Nylabone (chew toys) however, is quite irritating. Also, the book tends to generalize quite a bit and presumes that you have a puppy instead of an older dog. The health care section makes no mention of health problems specific to Schnauzers such as hip dysplasia and cysts and recommends you take your dog to the Vet for virtually every ailment. Save your money and read the internet if you want info. Or you can have my copy.

This book has alot of wonderful information, and surprising details about the Schnauzer breed. Abounding with colorful photos, and commentary that will intrigue any dog owner.There are many books out there in the market on Schnauzers, but this one covers everything you need to know in a very entertaining way.

Great information! Just about everything about Standards that you can learn from a book, the rest has to be experienced. Wonderful dogs, good information for any Standard lover or anyone considering one as an addition to their family.

We are getting a Standard next year, and I thought I knew everything about this breed until I read this book. Very informative, and the pictures are great!! I am very pleased with this book and I would tell anyone considering this wonderful breed to definitly get this book!!
