Don't Get Ripped Off!!!,

This is an excellent DP, great tunes and sound quality; However, you can go the the Dead's website and purchase this for 25.00. Why these pirates are charging ridiculous prices for this is puzzling. Stay away from these sellers, especially Woody's Books; every time I see an item listed from them it is some astronomical price......

If you're a Grateful Dead n00b this probably isn't the best place to start - only because it's that intense! I'm more familiar with the 10/9 show due to the fact that I had it as a bootleg for a long time before this release came out. Needless to say, I was excited to see/hear it as a Dick's Pick!
Sound quality is good, if not spectacular. The music shines through whatever hiss there is from the master tapes. (Remember - the Dick's Picks series do not go through the extensive remastering process of some of the more 'formal' releases.) The 2nd set from 10/9 is some of my favorite Grateful Dead music ever. I don't know if it's because these were stadium shows, or if it's because Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon were backstage (these were double-bills with The Who) - but the band is all playing with gusto, especially Garcia. (Not above a little friendly 'Rock Guitar God' competition with his friend Pete, I'm guessing...) Franklin's Tower alone is worth the price of admission for this set! Like another reviewer said DON'T PAY MORE THAN $[...] for this! Get it direct from the band...
