This is for me one of the most refined cds,of my entire collection. The competency of Clarence to sing and play is a constant in all this work.He plays fiddle magnifically, mixing cool-jazz with blues, rythm &blues, zydeco, extending all the concepts we have about a good music. This cd is for that people who loves the perfection, extremely worked here.Refined like less others!!! So,what we can do is to recomend!!To recomend!!To recomend!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Standing My Ground (Audio CD)
There's lots of nice jazz/blues on this cd, great horn section, etc. I saw an ad in a guitarist's magazine of some sort once, that said Clarence is the only guitarist who's influenced more guitarists than he's been influenced by.

I'm the 4th reviewer out of 4 to give it 5 stars - I predict that if you like blues you will like this CD; if you like jazz you will like this CD. If you don't like jazz or blues, well, I can't help you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blues, Zydeco, Jazz, Take Your Pick, March 8, 2001

This is one of the CD's that I never get tired of listening to. Gatemouth can do it all. He is as comfortable playing jazz as he is singing the blues. He is one versital musician, at some point during this record he plays the guitar, fiddle, piano and drums. I'd be happy beong able to play a single instument as well as he plays any one of those.

I bought this CD about 2 weeks prior to the passing of Mr. Brown.
I never heard of him until he guest starred on an album I bought a few months ago. I thought why not give him a shot and I was not disappointed. This album has some great songs and some nice grooves that any blues fan would enjoy. His violin blues playing is something I never heard before and it makes him different from everyone else. He is one hard working blues man. If you want a little Texas blues, this is the ticket.

5.0 out of 5 stars American music, October 28, 2009

Some things like baseball vast open spaces the Grand Canyon are unique to this country. Like Duke, Louis, Ray Charles and many more "Gatemouth" belongs in this group. This is good music, much of it Delta style but overall Browns music represents nothing but good solid American music.
If you are new to his music buy one you will be hooked. And a bit happier to boot.
