Standing Ovation gives every Wannabe a chance to be somebody! This film takes the audience on the real-life journey of ordinary kids with extraordinary dreams. STANDING OVATION features 20 original songs and dance numbers as it overflows with engaging rhythms, bouncing beats and infectious, sing-along hooks. The title track's believe in yourself lyrics perfectly capture the musical's timeless message: "No one's going to hold us down. We're going to reach for the stars and keep our feet on the ground. Together as one we'll get a STANDING OVATION!"

Definitely not going to win any Oscars. Kind of cheesy. A little grating.

But...

My daughters (6 and 8) and their friends absolutely LOVE this goofy movie. They sing the songs from it constantly - and I get a kick out of the fact that their favorite is Tina Turner's "River Deep-Mountain High". They looked at me like I was psychic when I stated singing along the first time we watched it - so Mom gets some cool points, which is a rare treat.

If you grew up spending summers on the Jersey Shore (the real one... not that Snooki nonsense), you'll see some familiar sights as the movie was filmed in Atlantic City and Wildwood. There's even a scene in Gateway 26, that big ol' turquoise arcade on the Wildwood boardwalk. My husband spent his summers in college working there. Cool points for Dad!

All in all, worth picking up for elementary-school aged girls, they'll adore it and it does have a nice message about working hard, persistence, all that good stuff. I'd recommend hiding out somewhere else in the house while the kids watch it, though... and then everyone wins.

I saw this Movie this past summer with my 4 kids. They absolutely loved the Movie and can't wait for the DVD to come out so that they can see it over and over again......It is pleasure to see a nice family movie, w/o any cursing, killing , and sexual scenes... This Movie was a breath of fresh air.... And has a good lesson to be learned by my kids....that is , that they can try and achieve the impossible , and that their dream may come true. I loved all the young girls ! My 3 girls have taken their names as they play around :Brittany, Blaze and Cameron... my son is Eric .... I hope there will be a sequel ..!

This movie is every mom and babysitters best friend. I watch kids from the ages of 2 to 10 and girls and boys alike love to dance and sing to this movie. Plus it has such a positive message what more could a parent or babysitter ask for!

I really had a great time watching this and will probably watch it again. It is very funny and lovable, plus extremely ridiculous.

these are just nasty mean girls trying to take over. They over act, singing is good though, but it is too much like all the kids movies and Disney shows these days .... one or two nice people and the rest are super mean and the jokes are based on how cruel the "It-Girls" can be to the "low-lifes". I am very tired of the premise. 10 yr old likes it and has watched numerous times. (Even she realizes the bad acting, but she loves the music.) I can easily pass on this one.

Where do I begin? I love this movie!!! With its hilariously bad acting, non-stop musical monstrosities and completely unjustified self-confidence, Standing Ovation is the Citizen Kane of Stinkbombs. I haven't laughed this hard in months, but trust me, I am laughing AT Standing Ovation, not WITH it!

The Queen of this horrific train wreck is pint-sized Alanna Palombo, who goes by the name Alanna Wannabe ("And I'm GONNA BE!!" she shouts repeatedly). Alanna is like the Olsen Twins' evil cousin who used to torture small animals, probably by singing to them. Her character constantly complains that people don't love it when she horns in on their performances and flounces about like a possessed Raggedy Ann doll. "All I Want To Do Is SIIIING!!" she belts out, leaving viewers to only want to find a toilet. The story of a pre-teen group of girls (The Five Ovations) who go up against a group of wigged Mean Girls, called the Wiggies if you can believe it, is bad enough. Then you throw in the working class angst of little Brittany, whose father left her and her brother to subsist with their gambling-addicted grandpa, and the tiny Italian stereotype named Joei (Joei DeCarlo), a mini mafioso with a purse full of electric eels, scorpions and yes, even a cobra, and Standing Ovation blasts into the stratosphere of crackpot genius. It's a Bad Movie to love and cherish, and there isn't a bad little boy or girl who isn't getting a copy of this DVD with their coal in their stockings this Christmas.

Anyone who has a teenage daughter should be sure to get their hands on this movie. It is entertaining and suggests to teenagers that there is more to life than landing a date or getting high. Good positive role models for young women--a rare find in this culture that still has billboards in front of clubs blinking 'live nude girls' in neon.
