I really loved this cd and I really loved Hadley's voice. I think he is the best opera tenpr out there today. I would suggest to any one that buys this cd that get ready for a musical masterpiece because this man is just that. Im a really big fan of broadway showtunes and really enjoyed listening to this man sing some very great songs.

If you love a great voice, great singing, and musical theatre, you'll LOVE this CD.I became a fan of Jerry Hadley the first time I heard him sing on PBS in 1988 or 1989 (concert performance of Showboat). But until I listened to this CD again (after a long time on the shelf), I'd almost forgotten what a MARVELOUS voice Hadley had, and what a MARVELOUS performing artist he was. Yes, I enjoyed his operatic recordings. But like Fritz Wunderlich, who was also regarded as a Mozart/Rossini tenor, Hadley had tremendous RING, a PING in the voice different from the sweet lyric voice of most Mozart/Rossini types, and more reminiscent, actually, of Mario Lanza. But unlike Lanza, Hadley had training and technique to spare. And like Pavarotti (who he was initially compared to), he didn't over sing, and had great musical sensitivity. To hear that ring, and technique, and sensitivity on cross-over musical theater pieces--which as a born-and-bred American, were so NATURAL for him . . . wow!! What excitment! And what a TOUCHING experience. |
