Customer Reviews

I use it everyday at work, it is reliable and always works when I need it.

The blade comes out constantly under seemingly any circumstance no matter what you do to try to prevent it- hitting the release button or not.
Chagrin
I am very surprised that a company like Stanly would design a knife so poorly.

I've had this knife for about two years now, and I have yet to find a replacement for it. It's a linerlock with a thumb stud, which means it can be easily opened and closed with one hand. The thumbstud is also the blade release, but it is oriented in a way that there is no risk of you ejecting the blade while opening the knife.

It's a slim, sturdy, well-designed utility knife, except for one flaw: The knife does not hold onto the blades extremely well. When cutting through anything that provides considerable resistance and pull on the blade (thick cardboard, for example), the blade can come out. This could potentially be very dangerous. I do not suggest using this knife for any heavy-duty cutting.

I mainly use this knife to cut tape and straps, and have found it to be almost absolutely perfect for that.

I brought this knife to carry with me at work, I supervise construction sites so I am constantly cutting something from cables to plaster board, I use this knife multiple times a day and its great. I haven't had the blade pull out on me once like the other people in the reviews even cutting 16mm plasterboard. its small enough to carry in the pocket with out being a burden and large enough to fit in the hand comfortably as to provide a sturdy grip when putting a reasonable amount of force against it.

The one problem I encountered as I use it so often I go through a lot of blades and the Stanley brand "Fat Max" blades are the only ones that fit in this knife, these blades cost about three times as much as the standard Stanley blades that I expected to fit in the knife. I was very gutted to find this out, due to the fact that I will blunt at least one blade a day at work I cant continue to justify to use this knife which is a real shame as I really like it. It would be perfect if it fitted all blades not just the fat max blades.

let me know if there are any other knifes that are good quality that fit the cheep blades, cheers.

I use it everyday at work, it is reliable and always works when I need it. The only complaint I have with it is the pocket clip is further down than on previous models so it sticks out of my pocket by about half an inch, previously it was completely in my pocket.

Love the 'one handed' operation-wish the blade lock was a bit sronger so the blade wouldn't pull out when slicing boxes.

this knife is good for light use, such as cutting tape or paper. Whe use to cut carpet or anything requires putting force onto the knife, the blade becomes loose and comes off. I love the belt clip on it, it feels sturdy and solid and should last a life time. Great for lite use, cutting card board sometimes causes the blade to come loose. Yes, this the design is safe and changing the blade is very easy.

I purchased one of these knifes at a local retailer and found that the knife is handy and the belt clips is nice.

The problem is the latch that holds the blade. It is easy to remove and insert new blades, in fact TOO easy, when cutting simple items with just a little resistance the blade will sometimes start to slide out (ie it is no longer latched) making it very unsafe to close after this has happened. The blade even completely comes off the knife either stuck in what your cutting or on the ground somewhere to be found and picked up, hopefully safely!
