Stanley 1082 Garage Door Remote Transmitter

I had no problem opening this as another reviewer did with getting the case open. I used the tip of a standard flat head screw driver. This remote is compatible with other Stanley remotes that have 10 pin switches with two positions (on and off). You also need to make sure your system is 310 MHz. If your remote has 310 anywhere in the model number then it probably is compatible. I did have problems programming this remote at first until I realized that it works opposite to my current remote. That is the switches that were up on my remote needed to be down on this one and vise versa.

Nice and compact, and works great, ONCE you ask and are told that it programs backwards! That is, the dip switch settings must be set just exactly backwards from your Stanley garage door unit in the garage. For example, if the dip switch #1 in the garage is set to "on", then this little remote must have dip switch #1 set to off. And the same for each of the dip switch positions. Then all works just great.

If you still have an older "Stanley" garage door opener from the 1980's-1997, this unit is perfect for you. I had the older bulkier unit and it was terrible. I was too cheap to get a new garage door opener, so I had to get some new remotes. This was the perfect unit for me.
Programing it took about 2 minutes (for the 2 units I bought) since it has only 10 dip switches.
The size is great, it is small enough for your key chain, but I like to keep it in the car instead like most people do.
My only complaint on the unit is that it didn't have the option of a clip so I could put it on my visor, but that is a small issue on an otherwise great unit.

I found this model about a year ago, as a replacement for their # 1050, which was terrible. This one is wonderful. No problems.

I ordered two of these back in July 2010. The one which was used the most (several times per day) is still going strong on the original battery. The other one, which is used far less often, recently failed after less than a year. The battery wasn't dead and when you pressed the button, the red LED lit up. I guess the tiny circuit board inside just packed up. It wasn't abused so it's hard to explain why it died. So I bought a new one to replace the failed one and so far all is well. Setting the dip switches highlighted the fact it was manufactured in a different batch to the original two I bought. Hopefully this replacement will last more than a year.

I do like the small portable design for security reasons, i.e. you take your opener with you rather than leave it in your car. The plastic shell casing seems sturdy enough and slipping the remote on/off a keyring isn't too difficult.

When they work, they're great. When they don't, they're not prohibitively expensive to replace, but still....Just be aware that failures do happen and maybe I was just unlucky.

The last one lasted 8 years on my wife's key chain so it is durable too.

I bought this garage door opener from sears when I moved into my house about 15 years ago. After much abuse and travel it was starting to come apart piece by piece, while still working, I didn't want to let go of it because I was positive that I wouldn't be able to find the exact one....ENTER AMAZON.COM. This may be a little silly but I did a little 'fist pump' when I found it online. I have had some very bad garage door opener experiences in the past...too many times trying to break into my own house after a garage door opener chooses not to work...but not this guy!

Durable, dependable, compact, and easy to set up! What else do you need from an opener!

After I placed the order, while doing some more research, I questioned whether I ordered the right product. I called the company and was told that it was the wrong one. He took care of changing the order, sending the right opener and making sure my credit card was charged accordingly. I have used this opener on my scooter for more than a year now - used hook and loop tape and put it in a little storage compartment on the dash - works perfect!

I had some questions for this merchant and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this merchant.

The service I received from ASPDOORS was outstanding, with very fast delivery. I had ordered the wrong item, and they were very helpful in letting me exchange it. WARNING: There are some transmitters that look similar but are not compatible. If you have any doubts, check with them first, don't make the same mistake that I made. The Stanley 1082 (white) and 3070 (gray) are an example, they look identical except for color, but are not compatible.
