I didn't buy this to use for building fine furniture, I got it for it's intended purpose as a carpenter's chisel. Even in that role this thing is poor. The edge, which I didn't expect to be "sharp" came with a small chip. The back was not flat at all, and one corner at the edge had a rather deep low spot. As a personal challenge I went to work to sharpen this chisel to the level of a furniture maker's tool, but gave up. The back needed so much work that I finally said "it's good enough" and gave up. The steel doesn't seem to hard since my initial flatening and edge work was done with regular AO sandpaper and it seemed to cut the steel easily. I thought, or was hoping this would be made in USA but of course it's made in China. The only saving grace is that the handle feels comfortable and the blade isn't a stub. I would recommend against this chisel.
