I use it for turning on and off a cable modem SBG-6580? from two rooms down.
It's two pronged, so if you want to use a three prong cable get an adapter ($1.00 in your local Dollar store) or simply cut/pry the third prong.
Make a note of the maximum specs: Up to 125 Volts, 5 Amps, 625 Watts
Up to 50 ft.
The larger prong is on the left if you're holding the device right-side-up and going to push it into the wall. So, if you have a normally oriented outlet into which you plan to plug this device (i.e., larger opening on the left and the 3rd hole below), it will plug in such that the outlet part of it (what you want to plug your cord into) will be on the bottom.
If your outlet was installed upside-down (i.e., the 3rd hole is above the prong holes), you'll have to plug this device in upside-down; and the outlet part of it will be up.
Don't let my mention of "3rd hole" make you think this device has a grounding prong/outlet. I used that term for clarity. Both the plug and the outlet of this device are polarized, but neither has that "3rd hole".

Everyone should own these wireless remotes. Initially I bought them for the ease of turning Christmas tree lights on and off. I now use them for beside lights.Published 17 months ago by Kim I. Robbins

Very handy for controlling lights and other electric devices that are not easily reached. Think Xmas tree. My boyfriend liked it so much he ordered one too.Published on December 16, 2013 by D. Weaver
I like making life as simple as possible when I can. This device made turning on and off a lamp that was difficult to get at a snap. Love it.Published on February 19, 2013 by Roberta M. Smith
