I ordered this product to cycle outdoor Christmas lights. I received it two hours ago, and it is an inoperable piece of junk. Total DOA. The so-called instructions are a small, one page pamplet (French on one side, English on the other.) The timer has a ring of small plastic buttons on the outer rim. These are black (predictably described as gray in the instruction sheet), and you are instructed to push them in to set the "on function" for that time segment. Fine, except that they won't go in. I suppose a hammer might do it. Clearly, a small synchronous clock-motor is present inside but even when powered on, there is an ominous silence.
It's also worth mentioning that a three-prong grounded outlet is required. This should have been revealed in the product description. Clearly, it isn't suitable for a string of Christmas lights with a heavy-duty grounded extension cord involved.
Finally, I noticed that out of five reviews, two indicated faulty units. More alarming, both of the faulty units are the more recent reviews. A failure rate of 40%, and rising, is proof that this product it unfit for sale.
I really dislike returning things. Beyond the bother, it always makes me feel like the complaining type. But, I honestly think that this product is a bad one and the consumer deserves the warning. Thank God, for Amazon's outstanding return policy. This ones going back. Thank you.
