5.0 out of 5 stars sturdy and well-built
This tape measure is one of the best out there. Its chrome case makes it look good and since it's rounded, it's comfortable to hold. The actual tape is very strong and holds sturdy even across the length of the room. The lock mechanism works well and best of all, when you've got your measurement, it doesn't zip back up really fast and slash innocent bystanders with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastic Casing
FYI ==> Looks like metal casing in picture but its really just plastic. They conveniently left that out in the description. Metal casings hold up better when dropped on concrete. The hold button is also plastic (Clip is metal). I gave it 3 stars for low price and the fact that the tape is very rugged. Also, the package saying its "Made in USA with Global Materials" must...

This is one of the best tape measures I could find at a good price. I use it in the shop and a little on the job.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as advertised, October 3, 2009

I use tapes a lot and usually buy them for a specific purpose and this one failed me... and that's rare for a Stanley. I wanted this one because it came "with up to an 8-foot standout" and that's far from the truth. For those who don't know what a standout is it's the ability of the tape to be extended without support for a distance in the air. I was hanging drywall on rafters and needed to know where the centers of the rafters were but couldn't get this flimsy thing to go much more the 4 feet before it started bending and it would fold over in about 6 feet. If you're trying to extend it above your head it's tough though extending it out under you is easier it never reaches 8, and that's a problem since most sheet goods come in 8' lengths. Otherwise a durable tape that holds up well to drops from high places and when I have flung it out of frustration.

3.0 out of 5 stars Expected better, January 17, 2012

This review is from: Stanley 33-525 25-Foot-by-1-Inch PowerLock Tape Rule with Blade Armor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I used one of these rounded off powerlocks on a big job out in California in summer '11. Decided I had to order one (can't find them in stores around here) because it's so easy to get in and out of my pouch and it fits better in my hand. I received my own and immediately put it to use doing a restaurant job in DC. It doesn't retract fast enough for my liking, something is different about this one so I'm suspecting some QC issues. Sometimes it jams up on retract if it's extended 10' or more it seems. Otherwise, it's a powerlock, and I love a powerlock. I just wish I had the one I used before, it was silky smooth. This one just isn't as good.

This review is from: Stanley 33-525 25-Foot-by-1-Inch PowerLock Tape Rule with Blade Armor (Tools & Home Improvement)
As others mentioned, this is a very good quality tape measure. It is a nice size & weight and it is shaped to fit your hand naturally. The blade armour is a plus, and the recoil is very smooth and predictable. This should last you a very long time. Happy measuring!

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate rule, June 30, 2011

This review is from: Stanley 33-525 25-Foot-by-1-Inch PowerLock Tape Rule with Blade Armor (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is my third Stanley Tape Rule with the second rule serving me well for over 14 years - it didn't wear out but I stepped on the edge and broke it. I don't remember how long I had the first one. This new one has Blade Armor on it so maybe it will last the rest of my life. I used a digital caliper to measure several places along the rule and did not find any problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best tape measure out there, June 14, 2011

This review is from: Stanley 33-525 25-Foot-by-1-Inch PowerLock Tape Rule with Blade Armor (Tools & Home Improvement)
As a carpenter, I have owned and used many different tape measures. This is now the only tape I will ever buy. It is sturdy, well built and the shape is much better than the traditional Stanley which large, square and awkward to hold.
