Buy This Square,
By
This review is from: Stanley 46-123 12-Inch Contractor Grade Combination Square (Tools & Home Improvement)
For $17 at Tru Value, this is the square to buy. Do not even think about plan B. I looked at the squares make by Empire, Johnson & the other Stanley squares at Home Depot & Lowes, and could not find one that was square compared to the other combination or framing squares in the stores, except for the Stanley 46-123 or the Starrett squares. I'm a struggling novice woodworker who does not need to be fooled by tools that claim to work but leave you with a false sense of security, until the end when nothing lines up & you have no clue why. I want a square to be square. Unless you want to pay $60-70 for a Starrett, I recommend the 46-123 and getting a square square.

here is a great value in a great tool. rated as a best buy in a woodworking magazine(i forget which one), so i gave it a whirl. the rule is very crisp and easy to read. i havent had the rule come loose after setting it. if you are worried about 1/64" over a 10" span, go ahead and get a high dollar square. but I'm sticking with my stanley

Just a regular combination square,
This review is from: Stanley 46-123 12-Inch Contractor Grade Combination Square (Tools & Home Improvement)
This product is not delivered as advertised. It is advertised with a black blade scribed with yellow color in the scribes. The blade is neither black or scribed. The blade is plane steel with black ink markings, no better than any square you can purchase at the hardware store. Oh well, I hope Amazon updates the description on the website. The square was average in all other respects. Not quite square but as good as any other construction grade square.
