I bought this hammer after I had used my old wood handled ones to drive in a few nails. My arm was sore the next day. Granted I hadn't done it in a while, but I felt the shocks from hammering.

I received the Stanley hammer and used it on another project. The hammer feels solid and balanced and drives the nails in well, the head surface is larger than I've normally seen, which is nice. I drove in many nails for the project, and I didn't feel any of the shocks I had felt while using my old hammer. Also the next day my arm was just fine.

I can't attest the the longevity of the hammer, since I've just used it for one project.

I purchased this when the price had dropped, so it was pretty much the same cost as a wooden or fiberglass handled one. I don't know how the modern wooden/fiberglass handled hammers are, since the wood one I have is quite old. I can't really make a comparison.

Bottom line, it looks like a quality made hammer, and my hand/arms were not sore after using it.

Not all hammers are created equally, it turns out. This sucker feels great in your hand, has a magnet at the top of the head that allows you to place nails hands-free, and even has a little lip at the bottom that helps you hang on to the thing when swinging it. I've used a lot of different hammers, and this one really does make a difference. The 20 oz variety is my favorite, but note that it might be too heavy for you. Lighter versions are available.

This hammer is a little more money than I'd typically want to spend on a hammer, but seeing that I don't imagine I'll need to buy that many hammers I thought I would spend some extra money and buy this FatMax AntiVibe hammer. I wasn't disappointed! As doubtful as I was about the whole reducing arm/wrist fatigue while hammering due to the anti vibration bands inside the handle it truly does work. The hammer has a good weight and feels well balanced. An interesting feature (one I doubt I'll ever use, but it's "neat") is the magnetic nail guide. You put the nail along the canal and give it a good wack, and sure enough it actually drives the nail into the material you're putting it in. One issue I have with it, however, is that I rarely hit the nail exactly where I wanted it to go, so for accuracies sake I won't be using the magnetic nail driving feature. Hand idea though for projects where accuracy doesn't need to be precise.

It's a hammer. Not much to say, except, it's a GOOD hammer. My vision is not very good, and I find that I can't miss the nail with this one! The larger head does the job, even if I'm off with my swing. It's got nice weight, good balance, and just feels right. The magnetic nail holder is a very nice feature. No more banged fingers if you decide to use this feature. Good nail pulling power, and an excellent framing hammer. Overall, I like it. I am ordering these for my sons as presents.

The hammer that is shown is not the hammer that is sent.Amazon and Stanley need to update their picture of the new hammer that they are selling on their websites. The hammer that they show is the one I want. The new anti-vibe hammer has a bigger hammer head and isn't as good as a conventional hammerhead, especially when toe nailing and hammering into tight corners. The only way to fix this is to have a machinist turn down the hammerhead to normal size. This hammer only gets 2 stars.

Great hammer! It's heavier than most, but that's a good thing since it adds more strength when hitting the nail. There's good grip at the bottom and it's very comfortable to hold. I've seen other hammers at Lowes and Home Depot and cheaper prices, but I really like the quality of this hammer. If the price doesn't bother you, I'd recommend this.

Ordered one of these as a spare for the job site. My family installs hardwood flooring and the guys are always misplacing their hammers. They each have their own tools. I found them fighting over this inexpensive hammer, because they all like it so well. They said it fits well in your hand and has a nice weight for general purpose use. The first one was such a hit I ordered another!

A hammer is a hammer? Not to me. My tool box has more than a dozen (many more now that I think about it). I might be OCD when it comes to using the right tool for the job. This one was bought as a utility hammer for a remote tool chest. As such it will have to do in a variety of situations. That explains the mid-weight and the smooth face. I prefer curved claw to rip claw hammers. The grip is comfortable if just slightly small (I wear large gloves). The magnetic nail starter isn't often used, but it's nice to see included, especially for those times when you need one. The aero one-piece forged steel design also reflects the latest hammer technology, if you can say that without laughing. In short, if you had to go through life with only one hammer that you could afford, this one might be it.
