5.0 out of 5 stars I suppose I should be grateful, January 9, 2008
This review is from: Stanley Hand Tools 55-119 FatMax Functional Utility Bar (Tools & Home Improvement)
The zoning officer in Franklin Lakes was inspecting a new house across our lake, and noticed a tarp I had drying in the woods. He came over to inspect the tarp, and noticed that the shed over my biofilters for our koi pond was 18 inches over the side lot setback line.

18 inches?! Give me a break, darn it.

The officer gave me a cease and desist order instead. 30 days to get that shed trimmed back.

I work with a fellow named Teodoro, and we had overbuilt that shed two years earlier; Ted likes to make everything perfect. He can do almost anything, and he knows his tools.

We needed to take off the 32 inches of material, and rebuild with the stuff we took off, so great care was necessary. Ted had absolute contempt with I showed up with the mid sized FatMax -- "That's a toy, Bob."

"Use it Ted", I explained.

Three hours later, our shed was in official compliance, and the door, and all lumber, insulation and molding was piled neatly and ready to be re-used.

Ted and I used nothing but this tool and a circular saw for the plywood roof.

Now Ted wants one of his own.

Robert C. Ross 2008

great tool for destruction, especially ripping out drywall. I'm not that strong so it's not too heavy to use for a couple of hours, but not too light to swing with force... mighty destroyer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Throw your other hammers away!, June 23, 2008
By
This review is from: Stanley Hand Tools 55-119 FatMax Functional Utility Bar (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool is a literally a home wrecker! Combined with a cordless recipricating saw with a metal blade (I prefer metal blades because you can cut nails, wood and drywall) demo work becomes effortless. I used these two in tandem to cut out 3 porch posts, and two sections of railing in about a half hour and barely broke a sweat. The larger model may have it's place in some bags but not mine too heavy for all day use. This smaller model is only 2.5 pounds and almost feels like you don't have a tool attached to your arm when you swing it. The claw will literally split a 2x4 with one swing, you can also twist them out as well. The head on the hammer is smaller than a normal hammer and takes a little getting used to, about 3 nails for me. My only complaint is the nail removal tool could be a little better (Don't throw away your crobar). Solid quality, great design, as far as I'm concerned, the best hammer ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars My first choice, August 26, 2011
This review is from: Stanley Hand Tools 55-119 FatMax Functional Utility Bar (Tools & Home Improvement)
This tool will quite possibly my first and only choice of weapons during the impending zombie apocolypse. Sure, I've considered other weapons such as
1) the Ka-Bar tanto knife [...]
2) or the silky zubat [...]
3) and until my friend Mark bought me the Stanly FUBar I was planning to go with the Stihl PA80 splitting maul [...]
No question now though. I love its close range capability (not possible with the PA80). I also love its versatility with smashing, stabbing, and piercing capabilities; no other zombie slaying tool provides all of these options.

Ask yourself, is $19.90 (prime eligible) worth the lives of yourself and your family? Don't let them eat the brains of your loved ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, October 24, 2010

Honestly, I got this because i needed a pry bar, and this one looks awesome. :-D

Only 2 complaints, its a little thick on the non-hammer end if you need to get underneath something with low clearance or in a tight crack. Even at the sharpest point, i would guess nearly a quarter-inch thick.
The other complaint, if you carry it around in a toolbag or something similar, it does add a fair bit of weight. Not a horrible aspect, as it feels indestructible, but something to be aware of.

And lets face it, you get a great reaction from everyone that sees this thing!

Thanks to this tool, I can now rip those old 2 X 4's and drywall right off the wall and floor, without a hammer and all the noise. Just grab and twist, usually using one hand, with none of the "violence" I used before getting this bar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Any Ex-Military out there?, July 27, 2010
This review is from: Stanley Hand Tools 55-119 FatMax Functional Utility Bar (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love this tool, period. There are very few things this can't do. Perhaps I missed it but is seems no one has caught the joke in the name of this tool. "Functional Utility Bar" or FUBAR for short. FUBAR to anyone who was in the military would know this is as "F**ked Up Beyond All Repair", which this little gem will do to almost anything if used with enough earnest. Don't think for a moment that the kids at Stanley Tools Marketing didn't know this. "What'll we call this thing, they asked? Multi-tool?, King Pry bar?,Thors' Hammer?,c'mon guys THINK! This thing can do it all, hammer, pry & tear, it can can really screw things up. We need a catchy name." From the back of the room came a voice, a salty ol' salior, he said in a low voice, "if it'll make things unrepairable to the point you can't tell what it was..........then call it FUBAR." The head of marketing asked what the heck that was supposed to mean? The ol' salt educated the rest of the marketing staff and the legal dept. had a stroke and had to be carried out. Marketing however, loved it but agreed they couldn't go with that name........unless........what if we said it was an acronym for something different? This is *functional*, *utilitarian*, and it IS a *bar* (this is the short version, the meeting actually went on for 49.4 hours) What does that break down to? FUBAR!! All the folks in the trades and the veterans will get the reference and buy it "just because". Genius! The ol' Salt was promoted to head of the FatMax division, in charge of product names. Yep, I am sure thats' just how it happened.

Oh! BTW, Buy this tool its' GREAT

This is a badass manly tool. Purchased as a present for someone, not sure how they're going to put it to use, but it looks cool. Might be of use for killing zombies.
