The Stanley Wonderbar Pry Bar features forged high-carbon steel construction, heat-treated for increased strength and durability. Its polished, beveled cutting edges and contoured bar make prying, lifting, and scraping easier; it also includes a beveled nail slot at both ends for easy nail removal. The pry bar is powder coated for long-lasting wear. It measures 12-3/8 in length with a 1-3/4-inch blade width.

From the Manufacturer

The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick’s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it’s famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley’s commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best pry bars... December 10, 2000
This pry bar goes by many names in my field. The workders call it a 'wonder bar,' while most carpenters refer to it as a 'flat bar' and roofers call it a 'shingle bar.' By any name, it is a great tool for any home improvement worker or home owner. I have been using this tool for over 20 years. While both ends are beveled, myself as well as other workers, have found that grinding back both ends sharper to produce a longer bevel makes the performance even better for taking out and removing roof shingles and flashings. I have even used this tool to chisel out bad pieces of decking. The curved end of the bar can be placed over the head of a gutter spike and struck with a hammer to remove the spikes without damage to the gutters. The bar also comes in handy when on a steep roof or working around chimneys and dormers. The bar can be placed between the space in 1-by decking to help support your foot on a steep pitch roof. It is made of fine quality steel that will last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars An indestructible tool! October 26, 2004
Having owned two of these pry bars for years, I must say this is a must-own tool if you plan on doing any sort of extensive renovation - especially if it requires any sort of ripping-out, tearing-down, or prying-loose activities. I have beat on this bar with a hammer, used it to pry loose uncountable objects, pulled thousands of nails with it and I cannot fathom an occasion when it would break.

Extremely useful and quite indestructible!

1.0 out of 5 stars Low quality tool using original product code December 22, 2012
Stanley 55-515 12-inch Wonderbar Pry Bar I own the original bar sold years ago under the same model number. The two tools share the same length and general shape. The original has a forged taper on the ends which makes it thin enough yet strong enough to get behind trim and pry. The new bar has a crude beveled edge ground into the bar ends. It is too thick to be useful as a trim tool. The notches are too small be useful for nail removal. The original is nickel or chrome plated and is stamped "made in the U.S.A." The new bar is painted and lacks a country of origin label.

1.0 out of 5 stars Country of Origin not USA, Made in Mexico (better than China I guess)
Amazon states country of Origin is USA, item stamped Made in Mexico. This is deceptive marketing, some might say fraud. Read more
