This sight level does exactly what it sets out to do, and it does it well. It's been incredibly helpfull in measuring elevation differences on our property as we plan a micro-hydro electrical turbine installation. We realize that it's not as accurate as surveyors' equipment, but it was inexpensive and accurate enough for our needs. I recommend this level.

I am a civil engineer and have taught surveying at a local college. In the past 35 years, I have used very expensive hand levels at school and work. This one is not as professional looking, but does just as good of a job. Can't beat the price. Brought more for the other engineers in the office for site surveys.

This is a terrific device for quick estimations of landscaping grades. But, in the hands of a real professional that I observed, can be used for projects like pouring driveways and laying irrigations systems. It allows the casual user to quickly acess elevation changes and grade lines without setting-up a transit. (Not that I had one in the first place!) Yes, high-tech laser levels are now available (for a cost) but this device hangs on you belt and is ready in an instant. One can do "shots" and set pins with the help of an assistant and an elevation stick. The point is that it gives a quick visual reference to plan from.
A useful and inexpensive device I should have had a long time ago.
